Posts from Heroes of Might and Magic IV “King of the Hill” Duel Tournament
strength-nature, order-death, nature-chaos.
There's not much to say, in the first battle, I got lucky with the blind effect from the summoned unicorns. In the second battle, due to the lack of a turn order table (like in Heroes 3), I didn't block two stacks of titans, which, after waiting and removing all buffs, killed both heroes. It's difficult to counter nature.
Thank you for the interesting battles!
CTPAHHuK vs AVS Hunter 1:2
I disagree :smile07:
The reality was quite different.
CTPAHHuK (Might) vs AVS Hunter (Nature) 0:1
He rushed forward with birds, where he received three Blindness effects from three hits from summoned unicorns. At the same time, Phoenixes were removing the immunity from my mage, and the mage was left only to drink potions instead of casting Dispel. That's how my inglorious first battle ended. Hunter played well. Everything he relied on worked, and that was enough for victory.
CTPAHHuK (Order) vs AVS Hunter (Death) 1:1
In this battle, Hunter chose the best tactic. Luckily, it didn't come to fruition :) In the first round, the opponent removes immunity from my mage with a Devil, blocks one of my Titans with ghosts, covers his heroes with other corpses, and throws Antimatter at my Nagas and Titans (I'm standing in a square formation), and at the end of the first round, he puts Berserk on my mage. Two things saved me: firstly, I figured out how to cast Mass Dispel immediately after the Antimatter and before Berserk; secondly, for some reason, Hunter moved all the corpses forward, exposing his heroes. Only because of this, in the second round, my Titans (9+9) destroy the enemy heroes. In the middle of this battle, my heart was already in my throat. However, it worked out :)
CTPAHHuK (Nature) vs AVS Hunter (Chaos) 2:1
Here, Seaman's trick worked. My Mantises (3+3) immobilize the opponent's Black Dragon and his 3 summoned Phoenixes. The entire army goes into a Sanctuary. The heroes and Mantises remain in the Sanctuary, so the Black Dragon and Phoenixes are effectively out of the battle. The opponent's Druid falls quickly, the Tactician stubbornly drinks potions, just like my mage in the first battle, but again, like my mage, he soon ends his life. I crushed him with brute force.
What I'm getting at is that I won. And here, Hunter wrote all this :D
I refute :smile07:
Actually, it was like this.
What I'm getting at is, I won. And then Hunter wrote all that :D
CTPAHHuK def Zybr 2-0
Revenge for the defeat in the group stage has been taken :)
1. As always, I first eliminated Strength. Zybr removed Life. Without hesitation, I grabbed the powerful Nature. Havr always tries to take it. So I decided to try it too.
CTPAHHuK(nature) def Zybr(death) 1-0
We got cannons. Therefore, I upgraded the Lifewalker with full combat skills and Tactics of the Commander 5555 plus 2 more morale from the Nobility advance. I didn't upgrade combat Tactics, as I was planning to send him into the cannons anyway. However, things turned out differently.
In the first turn of the battle, all my monsters get morale. I attack, removing the immunity from Zybr's Tactics with my Phoenixes and shredding the Vampires with other monsters. Zybr drinks immunity, destroys two of my Mantises with lightning, and ages my entire army with divided ghosts.
I didn't want to retreat into the Cannons with old units, so I cast a general exorcism. In the second turn, morale is also on my side. I was very pleased that Zybr's army had undead and two heroes from different castles with 0 morale - it was convenient for planning moves. So, with my units, I kill the Tactics twice and completely block Zybr's Wizard. The blocked Wizard with 23 Ghosts and 11 Damage gives up. :smile13:
2. Zybr removes Life from me again, and I remove Nature from him. I take my favorite Strength.
CTPAHHuK(stronghold) def Zybr(life) 2-0
I place Cyclops behind my lines, protecting them with defensive meat: berserkers, behemoths, and harpies. I understand that I will have to play defensively against fast Angels and, possibly, against Cannons. That's what happened. My opponent made a Master of Order with upgraded tactics and a Paladin with Cannons. Not knowing about the Cannons yet, I remove immunity from my opponent's heroes with my Cyclops, just in case. Immediately, Zybr ends up in the Cannons and tries to get closer to my heroes. He manages to get close to the Mage, and I manage to protect the Tactics and Cyclops with behemoths, berserkers, and harpies.
In the second round, Zybr skips almost everyone, except for Ballistae and Archers, who open fire on my Mage. Immediately, the archers receive a response from my Cyclops and Harpies. When the Behemoths come out of the Mage's wait, Zybr's Mage has already cast Forgetfulness on my stone golems. The almost-killed ballistae and archers severely damage Zybr's army's morale, which drops to 0. Therefore, I decided to expose my mage to the attacks of angels and crusaders, knowing that in the next turn, my behemoths will be after the Angels and before Zybr's Mage, to whom they will reach if I get a little closer. Therefore, the Behemoths went to finish off the archers, closer to Zybr's Mage-Tactician.
In the next round, Zybr's Angels go into wait, and the Crusaders finish off my mage. For this, the Crusaders immediately receive a second wave of behemoths and berserkers. The attacking behemoth hits Zybr's Mage, and my pumped-up Tactics burns the corpse. The game ends when my 9 Behemoths, with a touch of the legendary axe, destroy 5 Angels without the Mage-Tactician. The battle ended like this :smile13:
Thank you, Zybr, for the patient organization and for the final game. Everything went great. I enjoyed the tournament, and the result is satisfactory :D
In the first battle, he also had a Tactics with 555 + shield of death, but with slightly lower parameters. I made a mistake in that I didn't arrange the troops in the right order (that's what it means to just host:)) and I got a good beating with the Tactics through the vampires (they were absolutely useless, by the way). I took Damage specifically against the bugs so that they couldn't bind the main attack stack and retreat into the Cannons. I aged the main stacks of the enemy, but there was also a mistake: I needed to put the ghosts under the attack of the Phoenixes so that they would destroy the griffins, but I didn't even think about it right away. But in any case, I expected a retreat into the Cannons, which cannot be said about the mass exorcism. Well, and then the morale came to all the stacks, which is a definite destruction of the Tactics.
1-0 in favor of the Wanderer.
In the second game, we took our favorite races, it seems. I had only one option - to play through the Cannons. And that's what I did. In the Cannons, I managed to surround the opponent's mage (I was more afraid of him than the Tactics because of the dispel). I gave the archers to be shot at, so that they would at least lure someone out and maybe provoke attacks. For killing the enemy mage, I give the stack of crusaders. I cast Forgetfulness on the Cyclops. This was probably the only mistake, because I simply forgot about the opponent's Tactics turn. As a punishment, acid flies, and the main guarantee of victory in this battle dissolves. It becomes impossible to control the behemoths, and the angels also weaken significantly. Victory for the Wanderer.
Thanks for the game :) It was difficult, and he didn't forgive my inaccuracies and mistakes :)
Congratulations on the tournament victory!:smile13:
Well, we'll wait for the result of the game for third place, then we'll summarize, and give out medals to everyone on the podium :)

death-chaos, order-nature, chaos-order
The plan was cunning, cruel, but unfeasible due to its immorality. Only my brave dragons broke through, along with the efreets, inflicting considerable damage on the devils, followed by a proper mass cancel and a second round that led to the death of my heroes. :smile34:
The second battle showed that nature is indeed a powerful force due to its speed and griffins, phoenixes, and mantises.
In the final round, I was lucky that the tactic wasn't burned, and as a result, I burned one of the opponent's chaos units.
Thank you for the interesting battles, and a special thank you to the organizer for the tournament, and to the developer for the map, which was sorely needed for the fourth game, considering that there are plenty of maps for the third game. Good luck to everyone, and we look forward to the next tournament!
Let's start with some statistics.
So, Life won most often, followed by Strength in second place, and Order and Nature shared third place:) Chaos performed the worst, winning just over a third of the battles.
A total of 36 battles were played in the tournament, which is quite good. Although we didn't reach the maximum number of matches, everyone had fun. I think it was enjoyable and interesting. There was competition in almost every game, which is very important.
In the future, I will try to add the possibility of mirror matches, and I will give everyone a well at the end of the path, before entering the arena. Perhaps I will offer a choice between two sets of artifacts. We'll see, we'll think about it:)
And our winner is CTPAHHuK, whom I congratulate once again:smile49:
The humble organizer, known as Zybr, finished in second place.
And third place went to АVS Нuntеr, which is also a good result.
Thank you to all players for participating and for broadcasting the games. I hope that in the future we will meet again in a similar duel format:)
Prize winners, expect your medals; I hope they will be awarded to you soon:rolleyes: :o
