Has anyone encountered this problem?
Periodically, the game starts to lag terribly (this happens at any stage of the game, including even when just the main menu is open).
It lags so much that the game becomes completely turn-based, or rather, frame-by-frame...
The period between normal gameplay and lag is about 5 minutes, and the lag itself lasts 1-2 minutes.
During this time, according to the logs, the hard drive is under very heavy load (I specifically installed an SSD, thinking that the laptop's hard drive was simply slow or faulty - but it didn't help at all).
I've changed the graphics settings, updated to the latest video card driver, and updated the game patch - but to no avail.

I'm playing on an Asus G71Gx laptop with a Q9000 CPU, 4GB of RAM, and an NVIDIA GTX260 1GB video card.
It seems to fully meet the system requirements.

The hard drive has been defragmented, and I've disabled the antivirus.

Yes, the lag affects the entire system when the game is running (i.e., even browsing web pages during the lag occurs in jerks)... If I don't launch the game, there are no signs of lag at all.

I just remembered another thing - during the introductory campaign and the first campaign I completed for Stronghold, there were no lags.
After that, I played through the campaigns for Anton and Anastasia, and now I'm playing as Irina - all with periodic lags.

I can say one thing: if the hard drive is working actively, it means that your video card doesn't have enough memory and it's using the swap file. Regarding the system requirements: they might be suitable, but laptops often don't use the full potential of the video card by default, but this can be adjusted somewhere in the settings (for example, in my case, it's in the power saving settings).

I'll try to test it to see if this potential issue exists, although it's strange – I haven't noticed anything similar in games that are more demanding on the graphics card...

The power saving settings are set to high performance, and there are no separate settings for the graphics card...

I agree, but there's no need to work on the HD version anymore, he's not even making save files, is he? :) But I just know that laptops often have issues with the graphics card, even on high-performance ones.

In general, while testing the video card, I noticed that its temperature reaches 93-95 degrees Celsius during gameplay. I think the problem lies in this, and now I need to figure out how to solve it...

It's not for nothing that GTX, when transliterated into Russian, sounds like "PECH" (which means "oven" or "stove").

Guys, please help if you can! The game keeps crashing. It says there's not enough video memory. My graphics card is an ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT (256 MB). Can you suggest anything I can do besides replacing the graphics card? Maybe adding more RAM to the motherboard?
