Maps are placed in the folder C:\Games\Heroes5\Maps. If you don't have this folder, just create it manually... That's pretty much it!

Everything that has the extension h5m in versions higher than 1.3 should be placed in the Maps folder, and h5u – in Usermods. There shouldn’t be any problems. However, I haven’t worked with version 1.6.

I have the same problem. I downloaded Tribes of the East, version 3.0, and there's only one map of a decent size, which I quickly completed. I downloaded many other maps with the .h5m extension, but I can't figure out where to put them, no matter how hard I try...

In the file explorer, navigate to the folder where the game is installed (if it's the 1C edition, the default location is C:\Program Files\Nival Interactive\Heroes of Might and Magic V: Tribes of the East; for Buka, it's something like C:\Program Files\Buka\Герои Меча и Магии 5:Повелители Орды, as far as I remember). Then, find the Maps folder, go into it, and copy the maps there.

That's strange... Maybe it's related to the folder names? It's possible that Cyrillic characters or an excessively long path to the game could interfere with loading the mods. If you're placing them in the usermods folder, you need to use the h5u extension.

I installed Heroes of Might and Magic V version 3.0.
The same problem: I put the maps in the folder:
C:\Program Files\HOMM V\Heroes of Might and Magic V - Tribes of the East\Maps
...but the maps don't appear in the Scenarios!
I tried checking and unchecking the box, and I renamed the map, starting with 01, so that it would appear at the beginning of the list...
PLEASE HELP.

All the instructions are inside the archive in the readme file. Some files need to be placed in the maps folder, and others in the UserMODs folder.

I have exactly the same problem. I've tried everything...
I've placed the files in both the maps and data folders, renamed the extensions to .pak, removed the read-only attribute, and tried downloading different maps, including yours...
But they still don't appear in the scenarios.
Moreover, I open the map editor and try to open a map that I've placed in the maps folder. The map editor doesn't open the file and displays an error message saying that the file is either corrupted or I haven't placed it in the correct folder.
If I open the map editor and create a new map (without making any changes), it will open it later.
I'm currently using Windows 7, and I have a licensed copy of the game. When I launch the game, it says version 1.6 (probably version 1.6).
Please help, because I'm starting to despair of being able to play other maps besides the built-in ones... I think everyone else is playing and even creating their own maps, but it's not working for me((
