Any newbie can defeat Motaro – there's a trick. Just keep pressing 'A', and he'll keep approaching you. You hit him, he retreats. He tries to do a sweep, but it doesn't work! He doesn't shoot projectiles at the same time – and there you have it, your invincible Motaro.

I managed to defeat Motaro with Jax, using only the A button (he actually fights well with his hands).
