At least, it's better than killing 500 orcs. In WoW, players complain about excessive grinding if they are forced to kill more than 20, and you're doing such feats.

500 and 2500 are approximate numbers for the entire Ruined Valley, taking into account what you find, etc.

True, Orcs appeared around the Castle two or three times. The first time when I arrived there in the second chapter, the second time – in the fourth respawn, the third time – when completing Lee's quest to open the gate to the Castle. They come, kill everyone, and then respawn around it. ^^

In Return, however, it's much harder: firstly, Orcs climb onto the battering ram and even into the Castle, which they definitely don't do in the original. Secondly, it's very difficult to get to the Castle without killing all the Orcs on the way. The speed potion doesn't help; there are so many Orcs that you can't run past them. Transforming into animals also doesn't work for some reason; I don't remember why. Maybe because animals can't climb onto the battering ram, so you have to transform back, and then they immediately hit you with ten axes. And if you can climb onto it, you get shot by a paladin with a crossbow. Maybe.
Although, I think I somehow managed to get there anyway.
