Candlemass - Where The Runes Still Speak

Doom almost wasn't listening and for some reason thought that there definitely should be a low, guttural growl. But doom with clean heavy metal vocals, like this one, is pleasant and doesn't weigh you down) Thanks!

Entrails - Evil Obsession

Heaven, listen to this band, by the way, it's a cool old-school death metal band.

Candlemass is exactly what you'd call canonical old-school doom. Their first album gave its name to the entire genre. The most canonical and well-known song is Solitude. Growling appeared later in death-doom and gothic-doom, although bands like My Dying Bride also have quite a bit of clean vocals, but of a more specific kind.
In general, in doom, one song often combines clean vocals, spoken word, growling, and screaming. For example, like in this band:

Uaral - Surrendered to the Decadence

Candlemass - Solitude

It's alright, I like it.

Uaral - Surrendered to the Decadence

Cool, although I didn't hear any rapping there, and it's definitely not metal. More like some kind of gothic folk. And there's not much growl, and even less scream (although it's hardly even a scream).

But I didn't like this one. The other one was better.

Well, that's a random song I was listening to at the time, but there is some rap, albeit a little. There doesn't seem to be any pure screaming, but I just don't know what to call it - a guttural cry, somewhat reminiscent of a wail :smile04:
Yeah, I agree about the metal thing, it surprised me a bit too. They have about 50/50 acoustic and electric guitars. The closest definition would be folk doom.

Kholodne Sontse - Popil

Bush - Alien
