Preface
Hello everyone, after many years I found my old "Platinum Heroes 3" disc, but it was scratched and wouldn't start... so I downloaded Heroes on my computer and, naturally, the very first thing I did was start searching for advice on websites, as I hadn't played in a long time.
So, after reading horror stories about Inferno, I was afraid to get it in a random game, and I play with my younger brother, who isn't very good, but he's much better than the computer.
And today I got Inferno, and he got Castle... I was so upset by what happened that I just didn't feel like playing, and the hero I got was "Olema," with a specialty in weakness + ballistics.
So, I was already thinking that I could just lose... we played the SoD "War of the Tribes" map with two computers at 100% (because my younger brother is afraid of 130%).
At the beginning of the game, I quickly leveled up the Pit Lords, spawned a bunch of Imps and Ogres, which are useless, and rushed to attack the weak, as I read that Castle is good for rushing. Unsuccessfully... although ballistics helped, I had to retreat, and the hordes of Halberdiers + Crusaders were relentless.
Then the game started to go terribly wrong, I suffered a lot from the weak, as he bombed my "Inferno" a couple of times + we were constantly fighting over the "Castle," and I often lost a lot of troops there, but I didn't let him get a second castle. In the end, luck started to save me.
The enemies started attacking my younger brother, or they got close to his castle, and he was forced to retreat to defend, etc.
So, I captured another Inferno castle, and that's when the game started to go well! After leveling up a bunch of Ifrits and Devils + Pit Lords and a lot of meat in the form of demons, the game turned into something else!
The Ifrits relentlessly roasted everything alive, the devils, divided into 2 squads (15 each), cut down small groups of weak units. And the maximum "Tactics" combined with "Shield" allowed the meat and Pit Lords to come and give everyone a beating.
Therefore, playing as Inferno is a lot of fun!!! It's just incredibly fun!
And when I read about the trick of skipping a turn and double-attacking with devils, I loved this castle even more! Incredibly cruel and powerful, + you have to take it with cunning.
+ all 1-2 level mobs go to their death and then turn into a bunch of meat in the form of demons.
My younger brother was just amazed when I showed up with an army of 300 demons, 150 Pit Lords, 240+ Cerberuses, 20 archers in 2 squads + over 50 Ifrits.
His entire pathetic army in the castle was buried alive, and the first turn with Archangels into the crowd was a very stupid move, they were quickly killed.
In general, I really liked the castle, it's very cool to destroy the indestructible and understand that you, seemingly, have the weakest castle)))
And the tactic is probably that you shouldn't engage the enemy. Spawn meat on the neutrals and accumulate as many Ifrits as possible.
Archers are not needed at all, at least they weren't needed for me, mass protection from physical damage (earth magic) and you can throw anyone into the crowd + it's unpleasant to fight Ifrits, especially 30 of them.
In the end, in a squad we have only 5 slots, namely: Cerberuses, Demons, Pit Lords, Ifrits, Devils. The remaining 2 slots are for expendable 1-2 level units, or random monsters from the recruitment buildings.
Now about the units.
Dogs are just lovely, no retaliation + they bite hard and can hit 3 targets. With the "Tactics" skill at expert level, you can, without acceleration and under a shield, push them into the crowd where there are archers and other soft targets and bite them together with ballistas and other junk.
Demons, we all know that they are meat. But when this meat is almost whole (or completely whole) and comes into the crowd of enemies, it gets hot for the enemy)) Especially if they are under a shield.
Pit Lords can slowly approach the enemy, they are durable + they can hit hard on retaliation.
Ifrits fly into the battle first (Devils wait for their turn for a double attack) and under a shield they kill the fattest. As a result, on retaliation, they will not take much damage (because they will cripple a good half of the fighters) + they will burn the enemy. And since all nearby units will then rush to attack our "tanks," they will also get hit.
I really liked the maneuver when a fat unit stands next to an archer squad, as a result, we kill 2 birds with one stone. (archers rarely survive)
And for dessert, Devils!)) This is... this is... the coolest creatures in the game! Really)) With a double attack, you can generally kill 7th level units, as very high damage is often dealt. In any case, the archers or dogs will finish them off.
When there are more than 30-40 Devils, it's very cool to divide them. We have a couple of free slots)
In general, as I understand it, the essential skill is "Tactics," preferably at expert level. Then all your "meat" turns into a hurricane of power that is impossible to kill under a shield. And you have to hit!)
When sieging a castle, I had Ballistics at expert level, which is also an awesome thing, you use tactics to bring everyone closer, and then, after breaking down the door, a strike force of meat flies in, and then it's clear what happens)
These are my thoughts and emotions about this wonderful castle))
Let's summarize:
Play a long war with hordes of hero scouts who will collect bonuses and deliver meat + an army to your father, while he methodically kills neutrals.
When you see the player, try not to rush, it doesn't matter at all, especially if you are playing with computers, they can deal with them. And your scouts can quickly take back the mines in 1-2 days.
If the enemy still wants to bomb you, drag the scoundrel into the castle. If you have already leveled up Archs or Devils, you can beautifully cut down all the archers, and then beautifully cut down the main crowd that enters the castle with a huge number of archers. Because we don't have archers!) In a pinch, you can use magic, the shield is only useful when enemies get behind the walls.
Have a hero father who will definitely have the "Tactics," "Wisdom," "Earth Magic" skills. And preferably "Ballistics." All this allows you to rush the enemy, which allows you to get out of a difficult battle with small losses. Which are replenished by the death of Imps and other creatures on the neutrals.
Use the double attack of the Devils and always cast a shield on everyone at the beginning (only for battles in open space). This will allow you to inflict a good beating without losing a large number of troops, because with the help of tactics all our characters will be very close to the enemy.
Well, that's all))))))) Criticism and so on, write below, I'm ready to listen to something interesting, other tactics. Or battle schemes that allow you to not lose troops at all.
P.S. Against the computer and a not very strong human player, the tactic works great. Tested on "Castle" (Human) + "Tower" (Computer).
