New here? I'm Roha — want a quick tour?
There's a wonderful word there: "almost."
A spiderweb is definitely not saliva; it's a protein mass secreted by specific glands in the spider, called spinnerets, of which there are 3 pairs on the spider's abdomen.
No, spiders ABSOLUTELY must spin webs; every arachnologist and arachnid enthusiast will tell you that.
Yes, I noticed
What about half-spiders? The only thing Fateweavers are really obligated to do is poison their enemies.
And how many hybrid wizards have you seen, Morning?
Even half-spiders are a must, and since spiderwebs are spider saliva, the sight won't be pleasant!
Why are they a must? Because fate poisons life and free will? :)
More than nine thousand. Most often, it's a wizard/thief, although there are also brutes with a hint of magic.
And if the web, according to Werevolk, emerges from... Hmm.
Wouldn't it be better to avoid spiders altogether, rather than create such nonsense as spiderweb spit?
It would be silly to show in a pompous fantasy how a spider turns its abdomen, while Drizzt kicks it with his feet and two swords, and starts spinning a web.
After all, fantasy as a genre is based on the same principles as most modern games - "make money". Everything is for the masses. Realistic web-spinning won't fit into the dynamics and won't be interesting to the typical fantasy plebeian waiting for elves in Heroes of Might and Magic VI.
