Posts from War machines in Heroes V.
It's a pity that Necropolis cannot imbue ballistae with poison, or at least a poison cloud. After all, Inferno can launch such projectiles...
However, for the beginning of the game, the ballista is quite expensive (4500 gold), and by the end, other ranged units overshadow it... Of course, an additional attack would be good...
Maybe introduce a limit on the number of ballistae? At the beginning, 1 would be enough, and by the end, 40 would be operating. Then there wouldn't be such a power imbalance between units and the ballista. And make the increase, for example, every other week... It would be a dream come true!
In Heroes of Might and Magic, there is such a mode! There, I accumulated 100-200 ballistae... Complete imbalance! They destroyed black dragons by the dozens, and even azure dragons no longer felt like the kings of the map!:(

Although generally, I don't really like developing machines. They require a ton of money, and in the beginning, every gold coin counts, not to mention there are many other equally useful skills. But the elven ballista is rulez, and Delab, I repeat, totally rocks :D
Another good hero regarding machines is that mage who starts with gremlins. He has all three machines from the start
By the way, for those who don't know, the Iron Maiden's (Daleb) ability has been nerfed:
now the bonus for the fireball is granted for every 5 levels, rounded down, instead of every 4 levels, rounded up!
Those Nival Interactive guys are jerks! :D

It's interesting why a controlled catapult sometimes doesn't hit the target, or shoots in different directions, or always hits the same spot, and why destroy walls when towers and gates are the main obstacles.
It's just that the catapult has a certain chance of hitting a wall or tower!

A catapult simply has a certain chance to hit a wall or a tower!
And you can also upgrade Sulfur Rain by playing as a Demon. Then the catapult will fire 3 times. At least it will hit once for sure.
But usually, it hits 2 times out of 3 for sure. :D
I just wanted to say that upgrading combat units isn't very effective, meaning it's unnecessary. Earthquake is the best spell, and it's also more efficient to resurrect Necromancers than to use a tent. As for Elves, I don't play as them; their professional ability seems risky.
