Posts from Warlock – “Cultist” [Campaign 4, Mission 3]
Zariana, of course, feel free to ask;) And also, I recommend patching to version 1.6 (this is the latest one, and I played on it). Earlier versions seem to have a different balance and some bugs, so it would be difficult to give advice.
Ravan, I have version 1.0, veteran difficulty. Basically, I need to replay the campaign first:(
Added 3 minutes later Divinora and Ravan, thank you for the advice:) I'll try, and if I have any more stupid questions, I'll come back to you...:o You don't mind, right????????????:o
I think you should lower the difficulty to recruit or warrior. And update the game.
Even on recruit difficulty, without Chaos magic and decent spellcasting skills, the later missions are impossible to complete. Replaying the first mission takes about half an hour, but the second one gets boring quickly. There's nothing you can do to achieve proper character development, is there?
I'm terribly sorry, but I don't understand anything about "patching," "bugs," and other technical terms. :smile21: What does it mean??? Please don't laugh too loudly:o I've just been in love with this game for many years. I've completed Heroes 3 and 4, and now I'm tackling 5. But I'm completely clueless about this terminology.
Added 2 minutes later Ravan, I don't want to play on Recruit. I've already completed all the previous Heroes games on the starting difficulty. I decided to move up a level. It's more interesting. Do you think I won't be able to handle it on Veteran?

Even on Recruit, without Chaos and decent magic skills, the last missions are impossible. Replaying the first mission takes only half an hour; the only problem is that the second one gets boring. But you have to do something for good progress, right?
Well, I've replayed various Campaigns in Heroes 5 many times for this reason, and in Heroes 3, I got stuck on some Campaigns. So, I'll have to:o

I've replayed many Campaigns in previous Heroes games just for that. In Heroes 3, I even got stuck on some Campaigns. So, I'll have to:o
You can also play on "Hero" – the main thing here is patience ;) As for the terminology, there's nothing complicated here either :) For example, "patching" means installing a specific patch for the corresponding version of the game (patches 1.4, 1.5 (the most popular), and 1.6 are suitable for version 1.0; one patch each was released for versions 2.0 and 3.0 – 2.1 and 3.1, respectively). Patches are released to fix various errors (or "bugs"). If anything else is unclear, just ask!:smile33:
antonag07, thanks, you enlightened me:D Well, I don't know, are the versions that different? I have a licensed copy of the game, and everything works fine, I don't really have any complaints... There were some issues at the beginning, but honestly, I thought it was just a quirk of Heroes 5. But tell me this: if I install version 1.6 on version 1.0, will my completed campaigns be saved? Or will I have to start everything from scratch? If everything gets messed up after the so-called patching, then forget it, I'll just play on version 1.0. Because I've already replayed it twice. The last time, my hard drive crashed, and I lost everything I had worked so hard to achieve. I had completed two campaigns. I had to replay them. I won't survive a third time:D :D :D
Divinora, exactly 1.0. The thing is, my husband bought this game a long time ago in Moscow, in some cool store. It had just been released then, but in Belarus, they only heard about it, but hadn't seen it. But at that time, our computer couldn't handle it, so it just sat on the shelf. Then we upgraded the computer, and then there was never any time. Now, finally, I've gotten around to playing Heroes 5. That's the story. But if nothing is saved after the reinstallation, then forget about version 1.6.
This mission is quite easy to complete if you use the right strategy.
We start the mission with a decent number of Minotaurs, which is undoubtedly our advantage. The enemies certainly outnumber us, but this advantage needs to be developed further, as they have to defend as many as 7 Castles:D. We transfer all troops to Railag and go to storm one city. We will have to fight hand-to-hand, as all your troops, except for the Minotaurs, which are the most resilient and numerous, should remain in reserve. We defeat the enemy with Chaos, minimizing losses in our own camp. In the city, we reorganize the troops and, without wasting time on gathering resources and other nonsense (Shadia will take care of this), we quickly capture the second Castle and go through the LEFT portal. We capture the leftmost city, take all the troops from there, and go to the upper Castle. We continue this until we capture all 6 cities located in front of the garrison and prepare for a major assault on the seventh. That's it.
P.S. There is another small trick. Storm the enemy cities on the LAST day of the week. This way, you will get the entire reinforcement.
Zariana, then I guess I'll have to keep playing like this... Have you still not completed the mission?
Here, I started over. In the end, it's all about my character build, and I'm already convinced of that: I completed the first mission (or rather, the tournament) with ease, but when there was no Chaos magic, everything became much more difficult. Now I'm completing the second mission. I think I'll manage everything with the Cultist ;) I just wanted to experiment with skills and abilities. I experimented... You can't do without Chaos. In this regard, I was more inspired by Heroes 4, where the entire character development system was more flexible. But in Heroes 5, as in 3, the hero is still somewhat bound by their faction, if you can put it that way...

I've already tried something similar - and more than once:D. But as everyone rightly pointed out, without Chaos magic, it's neither here nor there:D. And I'm already convinced of that myself. But still - thank you for participating:)
So, tell me this: if I install version 1.6 on version 1.0, will my completed campaigns be saved? Or will I have to start everything from scratch?
If you're worried about whether already completed missions will be available, I can reassure you – they will be (meaning you don't necessarily have to start the walkthrough from the first mission of the first campaign – unless you want to improve your previous result or play it differently, etc.). However, there may be glitches in the scripts – but they sometimes happen even without installing patches.
I completed the mission without any problems at all. This is what proper character development means:D
For those who are also stuck on this mission: I don't know about you, but what helped me was looting the dragon's lair at the very beginning of the mission. I got a bunch of artifacts and became a real terminator:D Of course, they bit my army pretty badly, but it was worth it. Thanks again to everyone for the helpful advice :)
