You are absolutely right. The first battle was good and lasted a while, but in the second, I ruined everything with my initial setup. I decided to be creative and scattered my troops instead of grouping them behind the log. If I had positioned them correctly, I could have removed the scattering effect from everyone at once, pinned down the Knights, and initiated a ranged attack. But instead, I had to spend most of the battle amusing myself with magic and abilities. :)
