snaiper133, hold on a sec. The problem is with HeroesWorld, not the archive. I downloaded it a while back and it worked for me, but today it also threw an error with a 5** number.
If anything, ping me on ICQ in the evening, I'll send you the maps through it ;)

For some reason, I can't download all the maps at once. It says there's a server error. By the way, notice that "Wanderer" still shows 0 views. Maybe we can display it differently? I don't want to have to download all the maps individually.)))

Also, the registration thread for the 2009 World Championship says that "the archive with the maps will be available soon," but it's still not here.

All the changes discussed on the forum have been implemented in the maps and the readme file. In addition, the "If these walls could talk" map has been closed, and the "Lezkandra" map has been added.

Voting for the maps for the 2009 World Championship has concluded.

29 players participated in the voting (58% of the registered players).

Therefore, the games of the 2009 World Championship will be played on the following 10 maps:

I will try to prepare the player seeding and maps tomorrow. Sorry for the delay.

There is an opinion that at the 2009 World Championship, we should play the 2009 version of the maps :)
Regarding Lezkandra 2009 — it must be included either on equal terms or instead of the outdated version currently inserted in the list. It is more balanced for red and blue and has a number of obvious improvements, such as:
- added an eye through which the 2nd castle in the dungeon and a nearby artifact are visible on turn 1, instead of a level 4 spell book (you can restart without surprises and develop accordingly)
- the lord in the prison now belongs to the race of the starting castle
- below, behind the guard, a university has been added to purchase missing magic skills (instead of the removed hut near the starting castle, which gave a 4th skill — navigation, resurrection, diplomacy, etc.)
- the treasure is now richer with gloves :) the halberd +25 and the red crown remain, but taking it is harder because it has appeared next to the STABLE in the snow, guarded by a 4th pillar
- it's a real pity about the level 4 spell book, which is no longer near the 2nd castle (now a level 3 book sometimes appears instead)
- near the pier in the dungeon, you receive your level 4 troops after defeating the guard of that same pier, which also doubles as the guard for the treasure pillar;
- the last change is that breaking through to the opponent has become easier: the armies and heroes remain the same, but the ring of regeneration is now with one hero, and the stunning club is now with another.

Where have you been, my friend? The rules regarding maps and their modifications are outlined in the guidelines. I will soon send them out and publish them.

DEAR PARTICIPANTS OF WC 2009!

I apologize for the delay; here are the latest updates:
- The seeding of players for the 1/32 stage of the WC has been completed!
- Maps with readmes in Russian have been prepared (except for the Spleen map);
- Registration data has been entered into the main table;
- The online cup system has been refined;
- Accordingly, the regulations and rules of the games have been adjusted.

We tried to follow a clear logic during the seeding. Please don't be too harsh. You can see how the seeding was done in this file, and the results of the seeding and the Playoff WC-09 bracket are in the picture in the first post.

Here you can find the participant data for contacting your opponent.

Now, about the tournament system. I really hope that everything, or at least the main points, will be clear from the following words and pictures. A fragment of the regulations:
"World Championship, Celestial Way, and Altars of Knowledge are a series of interconnected tournaments, each of which has 3 prize-winning places. The series of tournaments is based on a Double Elimination system and does not have qualifying stages. The first in terms of start date and the most important in terms of prize is the World Championship. It has the structure of a classic Playoff. Players who lose in the World Championship move to Celestial Way, which is played according to the Playoff system, with players from the WC joining up to the semi-finals. The top three places in the World Championship and Celestial Way participate in the Altars of Knowledge tournament. Altars of Knowledge is three matches between the respective prize-winners for the Archmage's Altar, Guildmaster's Altar, and Expert Wisdom's Altar. Thus, the three tournaments represent a Double Elimination with a final of six participants..."

The prizes are the top three places in each tournament.
World Championship (WC)
1st place: the title of World Champion, the World Cup (a non-transferable trophy), and the World Champion badge (Grail – a non-transferable badge).
2nd place: a certificate of the Silver medalist of the WC, the Silver medalist badge of the WC (Sword of the Gods – a transferable badge).
3rd place: a certificate of the Bronze medalist of the WC, the Bronze medalist badge of the WC (Adamantine Armor – a transferable badge).
Celestial Way (CW)
1st place: the title of Celestial Champion, a Celestial Champion certificate, the Celestial Champion badge (Boots of Travel - a non-transferable badge).
2nd place: a Celestial certificate of the II degree, the Silver medalist badge of the CW (Equestrian's Gloves - a transferable badge).
3rd place: a Celestial certificate of the III degree, the Bronze medalist badge of the CW (Surefooted Boots - a transferable badge).
Altars of Knowledge (AK)
1st place: the title of Archmage, the Archmage's Altar badge (Archmage's Codex - a transferable badge).
2nd place: the title of Guildmaster, the Guildmaster's Altar badge (Guildmaster's Compendium - a transferable badge).
3rd place: the title of Expert Wisdom, the Expert Wisdom's Altar badge (Master's Spellbook - a transferable badge).
