New here? I'm Roha — want a quick tour?
In my opinion, Barbarians, with proper skill, are a very strong faction for some. But there are several drawbacks:
1) There is no unit that can cross the entire battlefield in one turn.
2) There are no flying units.
3) Weak magical abilities.
4) Weak defense.
But, of course, there are also main advantages:
1) Generally high attack and logistics for the hero.
2) 2 ranged units.
3) Good 2nd-tier units.
and so on.
Among the advantages, one can mention the resilience of ogres and trolls (which also have regeneration), the speed of wolves, and their attack power.
Among the disadvantages is a rather weak higher-tier monster.

Also, it's a good strategy to defend against a Barbarian in a Castle by provoking him to attack. The lack of flying units and high-level magic, as well as not always present ballistics, sometimes make it possible to defend a Castle even with troops whose strength is many times less than the Barbarian's.

That's exactly right; almost all Barbarian heroes reach level 10 with expert logistics, making it not very enjoyable to run away from them.
Of course, with the Anduran artifact on the main hero, it's just extra experience.
