They told me that physics is incredibly difficult. I'm thinking of taking computer science courses next year because we don't really have it at school. And 4 subjects... different universities may require different subjects, and you'll still have to take 4 exams. For example, those who want to study IT may need to take either physics or computer science. It may have been officially introduced this year, but they've been testing it for quite some time. But the questions on the Unified State Exam... are, to put it mildly, strange. Things are still okay with the exact sciences, but the questions on the humanities are just absurd. Especially in Russian.
All universities have the same exams... And regarding the questions, the Russian is still reasonably understandable (although when you read some of them, you get a little surprised, as if they're from a different school curriculum). You should look at the history questions... There are questions that contradict not only the textbook but also history itself... There are genuinely absurd questions. I came across one like this: Who of the following people was a contemporary of Dmitry Donskoy: 4 names, none of which mean anything to me... I just chose one at random. Later, when the tutor checked it, she told me that there was some kind of soldier named Vasya Pupkin (I don't remember the exact name... but something like that) who fought in the Battle of Kulikovo and didn't stand out in any way (but he was mentioned once in the textbook)... Seriously, am I supposed to know all the soldiers who fought in the Battle of Kulikovo? IMO, it's complete nonsense.
For each specialty, 4 subjects are defined, two of which are always mandatory: a core subject and Russian language (however, Russian is never a core subject). The other two are at the discretion of the university, either both are made mandatory, or one of them. Therefore, for IT, where the core subject is mathematics, it can be either physics, computer science, or both subjects at once.
By the way, the only subject that is not scored with 100 points is a foreign language. In 2008, there were no cases of achieving the highest score in any of the foreign languages in the country :) The most people with the highest score write Russian, followed by mathematics and physics. If you look at the percentage of the total number, then the clear favorite is computer science (0.21% of applicants), followed by literature (0.16%) and physics and chemistry (0.11% each).

Basically, submit the required documents for your chosen major, along with your math and Russian grades, and you'll be good to go. In general, if you've chosen a university, all the specific requirements are listed there.
But I'm not the one saying it; it's written on the official website, and some seemingly intelligent woman said the same thing in an interview.
And you had to choose the subjects before March, so it's too late to change them now anyway.

Hmm, I don't know, the Unified State Exam is certainly a daunting challenge, but who said it's unbeatable? =) I'll be taking history and physics next year, it's going to be tough, but what can you do?) And one of my friends wants to become a welder))) not as prestigious as a janitor, but still.
They say the country is lacking welders, and soon they will be earning more than members of parliament! And in general, do you know what an art it is??? Not everyone can do it, you know.

I recently saw a Unified State Exam in literature, and the first question was: given an excerpt from a text (The Captain's Daughter), write the name of the chapter from which the excerpt was taken... I roughly remember the text and the work itself, but the fact that Alexander Sergeyevich also gave chapters names was a revelation to me...

Physics is probably difficult, what should one do?
We didn't study physics at all until the 11th grade, we got 3s and 4s in it (although, in the second half of the 10th grade, we managed to get an excellent grade), and in the 11th grade, a bright idea came to mind that my career path is not just any, but technical, and any engineer, whether a programmer or an electronics engineer, should know physics and take the Unified State Exam in it. And I hired a tutor, with whom I diligently studied this difficult science for 4 academic hours a week.
By the way, a janitor is cool, especially if there is a janitor vacancy in your own house, and the yard itself is not prone to excessive pollution.

Yeah, biology was a joke there, haha. But I seem to be doing okay with physics (knock on wood). My teacher was even annoyed that I didn't go to the city-level Olympiad. But why would I? Last time, I got 1 point out of 50. I had all sorts of formulas – I was taking square roots of negative infinity, dividing by zero, and multiplying by a million. It was crazy... although the girl who went with me only got 8 points... a little bit better.
In 9th grade, I somehow managed to do the best on the math exam in the district, and they sent me to the city-level competition. I was quite surprised when they gave me the exam paper. For 2 hours, I was amazed, struggled, and eventually left. It was my very first time. I have to say, it wasn't for nothing; I still managed to score 2 points out of 30 :D

Yeah, I've seen something similar before...) It's basically solvable;) But I'm more worried about the history – I'm too lazy to read it, but I have to =P. For the architecture assignment, I need the history and a drawing of the head of an ancient philosopher, that's it. And physics is like a backup for the general science exam, but I'll probably still take it... there are supposedly 2 exams to choose from.
Generally, from zero to infinity :) If you want, you can take all of them. What is "PGS"? I found two options: the Party of Humanist Solidarity and the Faculty of Industry and Civil Engineering :)
