Comrades! Yesterday, I had an incredibly awesome battle! An Inferno army, twice the size of mine, attacked my castle (Elven). My hero is an Avenger expert and a skilled Dark Mage. I added Archdevils, Pit Lords, and Cerberuses to my list of sworn enemies and enchanted a Hypnotic Arrow (I didn't realize they could enchant arrows). As a result, I won with almost no losses. They ended up fighting each other.

Where did you get the Hypnosis spell?

Yes, that's certainly powerful, and if the improved ballista could also be fully enchanted, it could enchant other units, and an enchanted arrow would be amazing!... :) Especially when defending or attacking a Castle... there's time to enchant it... ;)

The ballista is a formidable weapon for the Sylvan faction, but it's difficult to upgrade, and it's quite fragile. So, I don't upgrade combat units; I'd rather invest in leadership instead.

Well, I wouldn't say that. It forces the enemy to spend a turn to eliminate her, and even then, it's not always possible to reach her, only with ranged attacks. And if they manage to damage her, she'll "resurrect" after the battle, so no problem, let the enemies waste their time trying... ;)

The map, in my opinion, is Warlords. I captured several towns. I leveled up dark magic from the very beginning. I think I learned Hypnosis in the Necropolis. As for leveling elf heroes, that was my decision. I take Logistics, Luck, summoning magic, dark magic, one skill is given at the start (usually something useless like defense), and for the sixth, I think you need to take the Sorcery skill; then the hero, as I understand it, moves more often in battle. Accordingly, there isn't enough room for Ballistics.
I don't understand why everyone on the forum is constantly arguing things like, "where did you get Hypnosis, elves aren't given hypnosis?" or "how are you cloning archangels with a ranger—elves don't have archangels?". Does it mean nobody captures other towns and uses their armies?

Regarding Spellcasting, it allows you to save initiative when a hero casts spells. So, it's not needed for an elf.

Okay, I understand. Regarding spellcasting, that makes sense. Then, you could add another ability, but definitely not Chaos. I'm disappointed with elves as spellcasters. Even with their Enchanted Arrow, Fan of Arrows, and, for example, Meteor Shower cast on them, the damage output is quite low. If Dark Elves had Fan of Arrows with spellcasting, then everyone would be in trouble. Probably the most useful thing would be to give them leadership as a bonus. Anyway, in the mid-game, you can't do without having elf creatures from other castles in your army, and leadership will help maintain morale.
