The lollipop (chupa-chups) should definitely be banned! Explosions are one thing, but a lollipop is just ridiculous!!! I practically lost a winning game because of it(((((((((((.
Come on... If you ban everything that causes people to lose winning games, what will be left? You can lose because of Armageddon with Phoenixes, because of Angel Wings in the Necropolis, and so on. This is just part of the game, gentlemen.
P.S. If your opponent found a lollipop in your game, just be happy for him and that's it :)
There is, of course, no balance in random events (it's a bit better in TE, but still not enough, it needs further refinement). However, almost the same people keep winning.
I just finished a tournament. In none of the games did it even come to a point where we had to fight to the bitter end; everything was decided in the second week. Yes, I got lucky – either with the map layout or with my opponent's actions, but it keeps happening like this, and it's been going on for years. And I seem to be "unlucky" only in games against top players – the map layout is terrible, my opponent has everything going for them, and I'm just slow and sluggish, etc.
It's not offensive to lose in a close fight, but when you struggle and struggle, build a huge army, and then its most powerful units are wiped out by 2-3 spells because some weak unit happened to be close to someone and got a little boost to its magic power... that's not just bad luck, it's a flaw in the rules, in my opinion. And read the reports carefully – it's not always that people blame bad luck for their losses; often, they look at their own actions. However, the fact that luck often plays a role is undeniable, and it needs to be balanced somehow, either through the rules or something else. And, by the way, I don't know about other places, but here, "top" players don't always win, surprisingly. Sometimes they lose to players who are much lower in the rankings, and there are real reasons for that. For example, I've played against the same people and won and lost, and in both cases, I acknowledge the element of luck/bad luck. And in general, I doubt your words and hints that the same people always win and the others are just making excuses. It's much more complicated; skill definitely matters, but it's not everything. P.S. Crushing an opponent in the second week is almost like Starcraft, and it's not for everyone...

Then let's cancel all the bans and really start crushing opponents with Deemons and Soul Eaters in the second week. I'm not saying that everything can be foreseen, but some things that give too much of an advantage should be limited. IMO.
I understand. Moreover, I agree with most of the points. At least because I acquired my gaming culture in StarCraft, where there is almost no randomness, and the dependence of the game result on skill is about 90-95%.
However, Heroes is not StarCraft or chess, but rather poker. In poker, anyone can win a specific hand with any starting hand. And the skill of the player manifests itself over the long run, sometimes even not in tournaments (where random people can also become champions), but in a career – the total winnings for a year, for 5 years, etc.
That is, in Heroes, you don't need to look for justice, because it doesn't exist here. And you don't need to blame external circumstances for defeats. Even if they are really to blame, will it make you feel better? The result won't change.
To win consistently in Heroes, you need a different perception of the game, a different gaming mindset. Namely, all the reasons for victories and defeats are only inside you. Then the level of mood and concentration will jump up, intuition will start to work – the ability to make the right decisions with insufficient information, and you will simply start to get lucky.
Watching the games of many of our top players from behind, I am often surprised – how they constantly get such favorable situations. If I had such situations, I would kill everyone. And when there are no favorable situations, there is frustration, the opponent's stupidity, reaching the last cell, or finding a speed boost in a vehicle. Moreover, when they relax, lose concentration, or their mood changes, the picture becomes the opposite.
However, Heroes is not Starcraft or chess, but rather poker.
that's why all the mega dads of the past switched to poker(((( now Scorp has also become addicted:mad: :smile22: )) - get him out of there!!!!!!!:smile30: :smile30: :smile29:  :smile08:
Still, if you don't ban Blast and Sphere of Inhibition, you need to nerf them, fix them, or otherwise adjust them:D – call it what you will. Why is it considered "cheating" that a Necromancer can have 2000 damage from skeletons, and it needs to be fixed, even though all the skeletons are obtained through diligent collection? For me, it's not easy to collect them, and that also requires a certain skill. And at the same time, Blast with 2000 damage in a Pandora's Box, Castle, or Fortress is normal, but if I find it for free (I shoot some enemies without any losses, and that's it:cool:), is that okay??? The same goes for that damn Orb – let it be, whatever, but it definitely wouldn't hurt to make the conditions for its use stricter. It would certainly not make things worse, IMHO. For example, you could make it unpleasant for those who like to pull such tricks (put a "lollipop" on someone) – allow it to be used only after building 5 levels of magic:smile08:! Just an idea, what do you think?

I disagree with Wicc. Heroes are much more like chess than poker, especially if artificial restrictions are used to maximize the exclusion of the random element. Based on my experience, the outcome of the game can be decided by 1) Dragon Utopia, 2) certain level 4 artifacts, 3) boots and gloves, logistics heroes, 4) the layout in terms of "cans," hives, and caches. The first 3 points can be removed or neutralized, for example, by banning visits to Dragon Utopia or banning a list of artifacts; the last point is handled by playing on a well-thought-out fixed map known to both players where everything exists in equal quantities. Dragon Utopia are dangerous not because they give a lot of money, but specifically because you can get artifacts there that decide the game. On fixed maps, they can easily be disabled in the settings. I also wanted to ask, why do the rules require setting water to 0? Who came up with that?
1) Dragon Utopia, 2) some level 4 artifacts, 3) boots with gloves, logistics heroes 4) layouts in the form of "cans", hives and caches. The first 3 points can be removed or neutralized, say, by banning visits to Dragon Utopia or banning a list of artifacts
also you could: -ban Shakti, Veles, Ivor, Tazar, Vistan...... they are all cheaters -forbid visiting "cans", clues, Naga-banks, Dwarf-mines... since when is such free stuff allowed??? -Earth and Air aren't leveled up anymore! Why on earth would someone cast Mass Haste or Mass Slow?? -we don't go to treasuries now either! there might be relics there! -god forbid anyone takes an artifact from neutrals—lifetime disqualification -don't build armies beyond level 3!! everything there is cheater-tier -don't take secondary skills either -don't buy more than 2 heroes! what if someone doesn't know how to use chains?? -don't build the Mage Guild either—what if one person has Impl and another has Mirror??? -and finally, I think it's worth placing a ban on playing Heroes—everything there is cheater-tier ;)
On fixed maps, they can easily be disabled in the settings.
Guys, just play fixed maps :) IMHO on a tested map the balance is nearly 100%.. I just don't understand why you are trying to change random rules to fit fixes.. PS by the way, I'm seriously starting to look into the poker theme on bye:D

It would definitely be more interesting with water. But what about the red ball...? What should I do with it? Well, if I'm supposed to be happy that my opponent found this "lollipop," then I'll also be happy that I finally understood why almost no one ever plays as mages and why they almost never become the main heroes. :(
Water really would have been more interesting. But as for the red ball... What am I supposed to do with it? Well, if I'm meant to be happy that my opponent found this lollipop, then I'll also be happy that I finally understand why almost nobody ever plays mages and they almost never become main heroes. :(
The art is very good, but not for random maps, IMHO, and the cloak alone should be enough for magic restrictions... I'm in favor of a ban, but the downside is obvious — won't there be too many useless artifacts to pick up in the Dragon Utopia? It's a 3-tier Dragon Utopia, and there you have levitation, captain's hat, and the orb... balance, damn it...

To win consistently in Heroes, you need a different perception of them, a different gaming worldview. Specifically — all the reasons for victories and defeats lie only within yourself. Then your level of mindset and concentration will jump up, your intuition will start working — the ability to make the right decisions with insufficient information, and you'll simply start getting lucky.
Watching many of our top players from behind their shoulders, I often wonder how they constantly get such layouts. If I had those, I'd kill everyone off. And where there are no layouts, there is luck, opponent stupidity, reaching a spot on the last cell, or fishing out the speed pendant in a carriage. Moreover, when they relax, lose concentration or mindset — the picture becomes the opposite.
I haven't had the chance to observe this, but I wonder, do top players take a re-roll when the layout is below average, when it's simply unclear what's possible on a given map? I've noticed that there's a very high % of bad luck when you're expecting something from a generator and go all-in..
I haven't observed this, but it's interesting – do top players take risks when the situation is less than ideal, when it's simply unclear what opportunities the map offers?
It's like a sudden impulse. Here, it's pure intuition – you can start with a less-than-ideal setup, or you can restart a normal setup.
LeBron, I remember you wanted stats like mine? I'll give you a passing grade. =) Sorry for the off-topic, but I was under the table for quite a while. =)
