Each of the two duelists eliminates 1 castle out of 6 possible (the non-host goes first). From the remaining 4 castles, the host chooses the first castle, and then the second player.
The point is that the host has an advantage:
1. The non-host eliminates a castle – this is normal.
2. The second player, after thinking, will come to the following conclusion. Since he chooses first from the remaining 5, he will not eliminate the faction that he needs and will most likely choose the strongest one, and therefore eliminate the next faction after the strong one from the 5.
As a result, the host has a choice of 5 factions, while the non-host has a choice of 3, and I think not the best ones.
P.S. Maybe just make it like in the World Championship. Eliminate down to 1 faction, or use a random selection with a restart.
Everything is correct there, meaning it's done in a way to give the host a small bonus, as they are responsible for organizing the game and "taking the heat" if something goes wrong:)
But honestly, I don't quite understand the part about choosing 5 factions when the maximum is 4.

I think it's worth changing the elimination rule partially or completely.

The point is that the Host has an advantage:
1 (non-host) eliminates - this is normal
2 The second player, after thinking, will come to the following conclusion. Since he chooses first from the 5 remaining, he will not eliminate the race that he needs and will most likely choose the strongest one, and therefore eliminate the next race after the strong one from the 5.
As a result, the host has a choice of 5 races, and the "non-host" has a choice of 3, and I think not the best ones.

No, everything is fine. Considering that there are no однозначно strong and weak races, the "non-host" has compensation, the advantage is in being able to choose a suitable race to match the opponent's already chosen race. For example, you are the "non-host" and eliminate Chaos. The host eliminates a strong Order and chooses, say, Death. Now you, as the "non-host", can choose a good counter - Life, which is very effective against Death, or Nature (perhaps it's not worth choosing Barbarians, as a single Vampire touch is worth a lot). So it's not that bad.

Let me try to explain the 5 and 4 thing.
We're playing, and I'm the host. Strength and then Nature rule the map (my opinion, possibly incorrect, just an example)
You go first, and I think you'll choose Strength.
I go second. Since I'll be choosing first later, I won't eliminate Nature, I'll keep it for myself. Accordingly, I'm already making a choice at this stage and choosing from 5 factions, and when I eliminate and choose Nature, you'll only have a choice of 3 factions.
P.S. Can you attack with 1 unit before a battle?
P.S. Is it allowed to attack with 1 unit before the battle?
Of course not. Firstly, you learn the location, and secondly, you remove the castle bonuses. But I have another question: who is obligated to attack on the clearing?)) That is, who will be the attacker and who will be the defender? This also depends on a lot. I suggest determining this immediately, depending on who is the host and who is not. For example, to compensate for the host's better position due to race selection, which LeSHiJ rightly pointed out, we can offer the "non-host" a choice: to attack himself or to give that right to the host. What do you think? By the way, another question: who will determine who is the host and who is not? I would generally agree to always be the host.)) Because it's not that much of a hassle to be the host, considering the speed and quickness of the connection (you won't have to reload the save again, etc.), and there is an advantage to being the host.
The host will be determined by a draw:))) I'll decide myself :D
But in general, the number of games as host and not as host will be approximately equal:)
P.S., you can't attack with a single unit.
