Everything is correct there, meaning it's done in a way to give the host a small bonus, as they are in charge of organizing the game and "taking the heat" if something goes wrong:)

But honestly, I didn't quite understand the part about choosing 5 factions when the maximum is 4:)

Well, if not, I'll hope to be the Host :D.
Let me try to explain the 5 and 4 thing.
We're playing, and I'm the host. Strength and then Nature rule the map (my opinion, possibly incorrect, just an example)
You go first, and I think you'll choose Strength.
I go second. Since I'll be choosing first later, I won't eliminate Nature, I'll keep it for myself. Accordingly, I'm already making a choice at this stage and choosing from 5 factions, and when I eliminate and choose Nature, you'll only have a choice of 3 factions.

P.S. Can you attack with 1 unit before a battle?
