It also depends on the game version. In version 3.0, some missions became easier, while others became more difficult compared to the original. The third missions for Agrael and Raihlag became much more difficult. Agrael was saved only by the nobility of the elves. He spent the entire week in the elven capital without an army. Gilraen and Talannar could easily reach him. But they nobly waited until the beginning of the next week. Talannar's army was approximately the same size as Gilraen's (degree of danger - no chance). Moreover, they approached from one side, giving Agrael the opportunity to escape. But after redeeming troops from a fully rebuilt castle, there was no need to escape anymore. Agrael defeated both of them. And I couldn't complete the third mission for Raihlag on the hero difficulty in version 3.0. I lacked the skill. I had to complete it on veteran difficulty.

I also had a hard time with Nicolai, I barely made it through. I didn’t really like the Mage faction; I couldn’t level up the hero properly, and I was already at the final mission. I also had difficulties with the last mission in the Hammers of Fate, but I managed to complete it with some effort.

Avenger, in order to acquire high-level enemy heroes (I always do this), you need to defeat them first. But in version 3.0, I wasn't very successful at doing that. It was no problem on Veteran difficulty.

However, one player easily completed this mission in 3.0. He leveled up the Summoning skill and used only invisible units in battle. He attacked enemies with Chaos and Phoenix spells. All enemies fled the battlefield before the invisible units became visible. I don't know if this will work in 3.1.

In "Hammers of Fate," the last one was quite challenging, but I managed to complete it. Also, I didn't enjoy the rather tedious missions for the elves in the original game and for the Necropolis in "Tribes of the East."

In the original Heroes, I wasn't very interested in playing as the Elves, especially against Nicholas – it's a very challenging mission. I also find the Necropolis campaign in the original game to be quite difficult.

In my opinion, if you have the Phoenix summon spell (and you definitely will by the end of the campaign), the Necropolis campaign is one of the easiest.

I recently completed it with a hero in just 2 days.

I would give the palm to Railag. It's the most challenging (overall), but also the most interesting. Especially the part where demons appear after capturing every other castle.

The most difficult mission is the one for the Elves; it's incredibly tough. I spent a lot of time on the last mission for the Mages, and I didn't level up Godric very well.

The last mission seemed difficult to me (but if we don't take Zehir into account, he can easily defeat an army).

I've lost the battle 38 times already; maybe I'm missing something.

For some reason, the second mission for the Elves was the hardest to complete. There's no money (because you can't build a Capitol), it's not immediately obvious where to find these dragons, and the nasty demon simply overwhelms you with numbers.

It’s simple there. You just need to hold out until you reach Gotay with Kujin.

I haven't completed all the game campaigns and missions yet, but at this stage: 1. In the original Heroes, I'm playing as the "Cultist". The third mission for the Necromancer faction seemed difficult (I spent a lot of time on it...). And this Cultist is also challenging – I can't pass it yet. What will happen next? Maybe it will be even harder... If I manage to complete the Cultist campaign. 2. Hammers of Fate – the "Resolution" campaign is difficult, and I'm stuck there for now... I completed the rest of the campaigns easily. 3. Tribes of the East. So far, nothing seems too difficult. I've reached the second campaign, second mission, and I'm playing as Kujin.
