but unfortunately, Slipknot has become so mainstream that I'm almost embarrassed to listen to them.
I don't listen to Disturbed as much anymore either – I prefer Drowning Pool from that genre.
I suggest we discuss the Nu-Metal band Slipknot (from English, Slipknot - "Noose") in this thread.
Personally, this is my favorite band (well, Disturbed is also one of my favorite bands, but Slipknot is... something completely different; they have their own genre, their own style, and there are no others like them ).
For those familiar with the band, here's a link to their latest album All Hope Is Gone (2008):

But in general, let's discuss the band :)
For reference, MaGGoT is a Slipknot fan:rolleyes:
The coolest Nu-Metal I've ever heard, but I downloaded the album a long time ago... It's not in the best quality anymore...
but the album was downloaded a long time ago...
Honestly, at first, I didn't like the album... but then I listened to it and realized it's great! It's not like the previous ones... You can feel the uniqueness.
Almost every song is at least five minutes long :).
I used to listen to them...

Personally, I think they get better with each year... Well, Vol. 3 is definitely better than the previous albums :).
listened to it a couple of times - I don't like it.
Is there a link to their old albums?
P.S. And why Maggotica?
Except the ones we've made
Maggot is a term that Joey came up with while watching a crowd of 1000 fans at a concert. They reminded him of bugs, larvae. They squirm, thrash around, and resemble a pile of maggots in some pile of crap....
To feel like a maggot, you need:
1. To love Slipknot's music.
2. To respect their style.
3. To have a basic knowledge of the band's lineup.
4. To strive for independence.
5. To want to be called a Maggot.
I downloaded it the same day it was released on Slipknot's website :).

I downloaded it a month ago (not from the official website, though). I have a lot of great bands, and one of their songs is 13 minutes long (and I'm not even mentioning that the whole album is one big, awesome composition).
That's why I recommend listening to it more :) at first, it doesn't appeal to many people :)
There are even cases like that!

Bow down and hear our cry,
Our earthly rulers falter,
Our people drift and die,
The walls of gold entomb us,
The swords of scorn divide,
Take not thy thunder from us,
Take away our pride.
G.K. Chesterton: English Hymnal
The main thing is that the same words don't sound constantly, like in pop music.
And in general, unlike pop music, in a song, the music is more important than the words... the ratio is 60% (music) to 40% (song lyrics), while in pop music it's 10% (music) to 90% (song lyrics).
That's why I generally prefer just great tracks.
So you fall at his feet hes the one who betrays you
Its the servants devotion for the decay
Stand up
There are no flowers on your grave
There are no chains
