Posts from [HoMM3 on-line Tournaments] "Favorites to Battle"
vitalic (red, Rampart, Kir) dudge (Necropolis, Gosh) dudge won according to the rules. Prohibitions and restrictions Forbidden heroes: Alamar, Jedite, Deemir, Isra, Vidomina, Solmir, Aislin, Tant, Sir Mullich, Luna, Ciel. If the aforementioned heroes reach level 4 or higher, they must be dismissed within the same day. Jedite at a high level.
Well, here we are, everything is completely upside down. I used Alamar with dudge's permission. I have the ICQ log. I was following the seasonal rules, dismissed Alamar at level 10, and started developing him. Seeing this, my opponent provided a link to a post about introducing the restriction within this tournament. I wrote that either he won, or we continue to fight. He says, "Okay, it's interesting to play, let's fight."
On turn 143, in a tough battle, I won. And now there's a statement to the contrary.
Judges, please review the ICQ log and save files; I'm tired of arguing about what these misunderstandings are.

GM. I said that I won the champ because the rules are what they are, but if you win the game, you can record the game in the rating as your victory. Or rather, I said that I'll think about it, but most likely my victory in the champ stands because I believe that my previous victory was unfairly taken away. :smile04: I can upload the ICQ log in the evening because I'm at work now. :smile25:
In the early days, I took two crypts with 5 Vampires each, an external dwelling of Wood, revealed an external dwelling of Pegasi and Dwarves, decided to play. I broke through the shooter blockers, captured a secondary Conflux, at home Unicorns with a Castle, funds almost at zero, in the secondary only a Marketplace. On day 122, I returned, took a Medusa Horde with 40 Medusas and a Dwarf Cottage with 100 Dwarves, things got a bit easier. I broke a prison for up to 19 Unicorns. Freed level 10 Alamar. Then Kyrre took a Conflux dwelling for 2 Angels, on day 127 I cleared an external Dragon dwelling and built them. On week three, I climbed into the Barbarian Treasury, but in vain—I could have taken a Dragon Utopia. In the secondary Inferno, I only built economy buildings, when on the same day Galthran arrives. He runs across half the map. I urgently try to return home, he takes my Dragon Utopia and goes to Inferno to replenish mana; I decide to distract him, go down, and when he happily runs to my capital, I Town Portal home and attack.
Alamar with 9 Green Dragons, 8 Unicorns, 37 Silver Pegasi, 2 Angels, 45 Grand Elves, 32 Dendroid Soldiers
Galthran with 50 Vampire Lords, 600 Skeleton Warriors, 100 Skeletons, 6 Death Knights, 20 Liches and 50 Ghost Witches.
Alamar has mana for only 2 Implosions; I immediately imploded the Vampires, all the bone stacks sped up and forward, with Wait I attack the Skeleton Warrior stack, with Dendroids (12 Dendroids left after retaliation), then with Dragons (with morale) and Pegasi.
Thanks for the game

Then tell me how you disconnected from the game on your turn and didn't make saves, and to continue we sent you my saves for 45 minutes—let's come clean about everything. Honestly, I'm tired of your antics. In the previous game, on one of your turns you moved for 20 minutes and disconnected; the save on your turn shows you took the Medusa Horde. Then we continue, you don't have an end-of-turn save, and you re-take your turn, and the Medusa Horde remains untaken for the rest of the game????? I hope the tournaments never pair us as opponents again (I regret not holding back and pouring all this out on the forum, but one has to be human...)
Since there are no judges online, I'm posting the log here. The message "Judge (00:38:46 14/05/2008)" 1) Regarding the saves, there was a discussion about it on ICQ. I'll repeat: I didn't see the point in finishing my turn, firstly because I thought the internet would be back up soon and we would continue, and secondly, the computer played for you when the connection was lost, and I only managed to move two units. 2) Regarding the previous game, I offered to give you the save, but you refused. You would have gotten a proper answer. In that game, I remember that the Medusa lair was only there until your disconnection, and you only reappeared the next day. And then they brought me Vampires the next day, and I didn't really want to go back towards the Medusas, and before that, it wasn't even worth taking the Medusas with 130-180 skeletons. 3) I find your words funny. I didn't break any rules (which you thought existed or considered to be implicitly not in effect), but firstly, you broke the rule written in the very first topic: you didn't fire Jedid on the same day you got her. Secondly, you asked me to play the previous game in advance, and you were obliged to admit defeat because the judge had already declared it.
In general, an interesting question arises for the organizer and the judge. The tournament organizer credited my game, and the judge was only contacted for the results of the game. And now, 10 days after the verdict, the judge suddenly expresses his opinion... what kind of mess is this? I didn't break the rules, my victory was taken away from me, and I win because someone broke the rules, and now they're going to take that away from me again. And Vitalik, I told you that I would think about it, and now I'm sure of it. And even if you think I gave you permission, I'll tell you this: "I've changed my mind, you get that loss, sorry you wasted an extra 40 minutes on the internet."
On January 20th, an unofficial online tournament for all fans of the wonderful game Heroes III called "Favorites to Battle" will begin.
Part 1. Regulations
1)The tournament is held on the Platinum version 4.0, as well as on The Shadow of SoD with patch 3.2 via Hamachi.
2)We will play in a general tournament network: Favorites to Battle_net#1 and Favorites to Battle_net#2, the network password is 1234 there is no need for everyone to join both networks; the 2nd network was created in case there isn't enough room in the first.
3)The tournament is unofficial, but games will automatically be added to the rating table
4)Tournament participants must register in this thread; to do so, you need to declare your desire to participate and specify your ICQ number and the faction you will play.
5)All games in the tournament will be played on random maps of Large + Underground size using the 2sm4d(3) template; the template itself can be downloaded here, and you can see its scheme below (special thanks to dreamcatcher for this opportunity) Map settings: L+U, 2 players, 0 teams, 0 computers, 0 computer teams, no water, strong monsters, difficulty 160%, turn limit 4 minutes.
6)Lucky owners of the Platinum series (4.0) will not have to install a map generator, which I cannot say for owners of The Shadow of Death, who are deprived of this option. You can download and install the generator for SoD here.
7)Tournament system: a maximum of 24 players will be divided into six groups of 4 people; each player will play one game with the players in their group, totaling 3 games. For a victory in each game, the participant is awarded 3 points. The 2 players who score the most points advance to the semifinals, where they are again divided into 3 groups of 4 players. One person from each of the three groups advances to the final.
8)Disputed moments related to an equal number of points are resolved by comparing the total skills of the final heroes in the game and through additional games (where in the semifinals and finals, only additional games are used).
9)The organizer (or their assistant) will conduct a draw for pairs in advance using a special program to determine the red and blue player in each pair. Since a player is allowed to choose one town for all games, a problem often arises — players chose the same heroes — the organizer leaves the priority of choice to the red player. After the 1st game, the player who was red must yield the red color to the opponent in the second game.
10)All disputed moments are decided by the organizer (or their assistant), so I ask you to notify them of such occurrences in a timely manner.
11)One round of games will last 1 week, meaning that during this time players must play 1 game; games should be coordinated in this thread. Both players must post their agreement with the given time; if for any reason you cannot play at the agreed time, you must notify your opponent at least 24 hours in advance, and not just write a private message or email, but receive notification that they have received your message. If a player does not play the game within a week, they are awarded a technical defeat. If a situation arises where a player was forced to miss a game due to the opponent's fault, they are awarded a victory, and the culprit receives a technical defeat. In case of failure to appear for the game by the appointed time, the player is given a technical defeat. A delay of no more than 60 min is permitted.
12)Based on the draw, the red player is determined, who is granted the right to be the server. The server must download and install the template, carefully check the game settings and map options. If for technical reasons the red player cannot be the server — the blue player creates the server.
13) The tournament system consists of three stages: Stage 1 (qualifying) - 6 groups of 4 people - two advance from each group, having scored the most points (3 points for a victory). Stage 2 (semifinals) - 3 groups of 4 people - only one person advances from each group, accordingly, the one who scored more points. In case of an equal number of points among contenders to advance from the group, the sum of attack, defense, power, and knowledge of the main hero is calculated, taking into account equipped artifacts; accordingly, the one with the higher sum proceeds to the next round. Stage 3 (final) - 1 group - 3 people. Each plays 1 game against an opponent; if a winner is not determined by the number of points — additional games will be held.
14)Game reports should be left in the Online Reports thread, using the template: player1, red, fortress, bron\tazar (where bron is the starting hero, tazar the main) def player2, blue, tower, nela\nela 2 1 3 , marked as participating in the tournament. To resolve disputed issues, it is mandatory to make saves every first day of the week and before the deciding battle between players. The save before the battle and before the victory (or opponent's surrender) must be posted in the report.
15)The organizer (or their assistant) reserves the right to make any changes to both the regulations and the rules.
16)The basis of the regulations was taken from the seasonal online tournament SOY(autumn 2007), for which thanks to Adelaide. The rules are based on the Online Game Rules for HoMM3, for which we thank Invisible. Special thanks to vbn for the table.
Part 2 Rules. Restarts: each player has the right to take a restart twice: on the first day of the game and within three days, meaning starting a new game with map regeneration. Mandatory restarts: if the starting hero is above level 1; if a player starts with more than one castle; if a fort is not built in the starting castle; restart upon meeting by day 116 inclusive, meaning if players enter direct contact with each other using any of their heroes within the first six game days (simply put, any battle occurs between them), then one of them has the right to demand a restart. If both players agree to continue, that is their right. Prohibitions and Restrictions Forbidden heroes: Alamar, Jedidiah, Deemir, Isra, Vidomina, Solmir, Aislin, Tant, Sir Mullich, Luna, Ciel. If the above-mentioned heroes exceed level 3, they must be dismissed within the same day. It is permitted to transfer spells from forbidden heroes via the "Training" skill, but these spells can only be used after building the corresponding level of the Mage Guild. Spells of levels 1-2 transferred via the "Training" skill (including spells learned from forbidden heroes) can be used even without building a Mage Guild at all. For example, you can use own Magic Arrow obtained from Ciel or Fire Wall learned from Luna. But if you learned "Raise Dead" from Tant or "Meteor Shower" obtained from Aislin, please build the corresponding 3rd or 4th level of the Mage Guild to be able to use the learned spells. I want to point out that forbidden heroes can be used until they reach level 3, after which they must be dismissed on that same day. You may also level up "diplomat heroes," including leveling the "Diplomacy" skill, but it can only be used to reduce the cost of bribing. The so-called "red rush" is forbidden, meaning a player playing as red does not have the right to attack blue on the first day of the week with growth purchased on that day. However, troops that come with a hero purchased on that day can be used. An attacking hero has no right to retreat in the first round of battle if they applied combat magic or any other spell that somehow dealt any damage to the opponent. This prohibition does not apply to the defending hero. It is forbidden to recruit any monsters. Diplomacy is permitted only for reducing the cost of bribing. If monsters want to join, refuse and either kill them or let them run away. That is, killing is not mandatory. It is forbidden to use level 4 and 5 magic scrolls without building the corresponding level of the Mage Guild (Mage Guild) in any of your castles. If there is no corresponding level of Mage Guild in the starting castle, you must do the following: a) find a castle that has the corresponding Mage Guild level and build the corresponding Mage Guild level) b) fully build the entire Mage Guild in any 2 controlled castles if none of them have the required level. c) capture an opponent's castle with already built corresponding Mage Guild Any hero can use the "Dimension Door" spell no more than once a day. It is forbidden to use "Angel Wings" and "Boots of Levitation" without building the 5th level of the Mage Guild, or, in its absence, according to point 5.5 It is forbidden to visit cartographers and the "Fort on the Hill". It is forbidden to enter neighboring territories without breaking through the guard protecting the passage (i.e., if it is shifted). If two or three guards are scattered along the road — any one of your choice can be broken through. It is also forbidden to take pandoras, scrolls, artifacts, or visit various objects from under a shifted guard without killing the guard. Chests, campfires, and resources may be taken. It is forbidden to assemble the "Cloak of the Undead King" artifact The Grail can be dug up after 5 weeks of play. In the Conflux castle, it is forbidden to upgrade level 1, 6, 7 monsters It is forbidden to use mercenary camps. It is also forbidden to useBugs:
1.4.1. double casting of magic in one game turn 1.4.2. using magic in anti-magic garrisons; 1.4.3. selling artifacts at inflated prices 1.4.4. visiting sirens repeatedly with the same hero. 1.4.10. weakening non-upgraded neutral armies through multiple defeats if they contain an upgraded unit. (Explanation: When attacking a non-upgraded neutral army that contains upgraded units, they must be destroyed in every attack and additional saves should be made before and after the battle. This point applies to armies standing on the map. For structures: Crypt, Abandoned Ship, Shipwreck, Dragon Utopia, Pyramid, Monster Dwellings, Griffin Conservatory, Snake Hive, Golem Factory, Conflux, Abandoned Mine, Imp Cache, Dwarf Treasury, Medusa Vault, Cyclops Warehouse and Naga Bank; this prohibition does not apply) 1.4.11. using navigation bonuses on land. 1.4.12. when building the Grail in the Conflux castle, using spells learned by a hero who does not have the required level of the Wisdom secondary skill at the time of visiting this castle, even if later the hero acquires the necessary level of Wisdom (in the latter case, it is necessary to visit the castle where the required spell is located again). 1.4.13. using any other errors (bugs).
Fair Play The most important point: players must play fair and respect each other. It is forbidden to use cheat codes and all kinds of "bugs." Also, you cannot open saves or open the map in the editor until the end of the game. A game is considered finished when one player has completely destroyed the second or one of them surrenders, which must be confirmed via ICQ. Only after this is it permitted to open saves. Miscellaneous If a "stalemate" situation occurs in battle, the attacking player must retreat. For example: during the battle, the attacker has 100 dwarves left, and the defending hero has 1 fly. And 100 dwarves simply cannot catch the fly. In this case, the attacker with 100 dwarves must retreat (or bribe). If someone is wearing "Shackles of War," you must load the last save, repeat all moves exactly as they were made before this battle, and dismiss the troops that were killed during this battle. Then the attacker must attack and flee/bribe. If a disconnect occurs during the game, the player who was moving at that moment finishes their turn and saves the game. Then you load from this save and continue. Or load the autosave of the player who was inactive at that time. If the connection was interrupted during a battle, then after loading all battle moves are repeated as closely as possible to those before the disconnect.
Part 3. Tables (continued) So, the time has finally come. I announce the start of the semifinal games. My apologies for the delays - specifically, I am to blame, and in particular, circumstances just happened to be this way :p

games will be held from February 20th to 27th for the 1st game, from February 28th to March 6th for the 2nd, and from March 7th to March 13th for the 3rd game. For anyone who does not play within the deadlines, technical losses will be assigned immediately. game scheme: 1 vs 4, 2 vs 3. Choose your colors yourselves - and may luck be with you!
The saga is nearing its end!
Two games between Dudge and vitalic have already taken place.
And both games were not as smooth as we would have liked.
But the true heroes of our portal want to see a truly strong player win, not someone who interpreted the imperfect rules better and made fewer mistakes during the game. Everyone tried to play fairly, and everyone played fairly! But it was impossible to avoid mistakes.
Indeed, in the last game, there was a violation by vitalic, which consisted of leveling up a hero who was released from prison, which is prohibited by the rules.
But we all want the fate of the tournaments to be determined not by mistakes in the rules, but by real battles between heroes, and Dudge agreed to consider the current situation and announce whether the final will be a de facto, formal technical victory, or a Real Battle of Heroes.
In any case, respect to our finalists for their patience and worthy game. :smile20:
Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth...
I agree with the previous post. None of us is to blame for the fact that the organizer who started the tournament didn't finish it, and inconsistencies arose in the rules. And if we don't look for someone to blame, but instead follow the spirit of fair play, we will all benefit from it.

The more I play any game, the more I am convinced: The best rule is – NO RULES Then no one will be able to dispute the victory! And rules written in three volumes only give rise to pedantry!

I think that publicly pressuring someone by appealing to their sense of pity is simply not right. One person won, and then you start saying, "If you were a real man, you would act like one." Personally, I would probably have done the same. Vitalic started nitpicking the rules after he lost, pointing out to Dudge that he supposedly passed by a shifted guard (although in reality, the terrain was shifted). Did Dudge win the game in an "unmanly" way? Fine, Dudge's victory was acknowledged, and then they started saying that the game ended prematurely (although this was initiated by the organizer). They simply annulled it. They played another game. In the second game, Dudge played "according to the rules," which is what Vitalic had been striving for in the first game. As a result, Dudge won for the second time. But that wasn't enough:
But we all want the outcome of the tournaments to be determined not by flaws in the rules, but by real battles of heroes, and Dudge agreed to consider the current situation and announce what he decides: a de facto, formal technical victory or a Real Battle of Heroes.
Hooray! This isn't the end of the tournament; we demand that it continue, the people demand bread and circuses. Let's have a third, decisive game. And maybe a fourth or fifth game will follow soon... In my opinion, the outcome of the tournament resembles a circus! It's like: "Dudge, you're a two-time winner, but let's have one more, a decisive one, as an encore, so there are no questions about your level of play. Come on, be a man, prove it to all of us...". That's exactly what they're trying to say, only with clever words and hints. With approximately the same level of play for both players, three wins out of three is unlikely, so naturally, Dudge will probably lose in the next game (especially in such a tense atmosphere). Sorry if I'm being a bit harsh.
Guys! I might not be an expert on the rules, but still, 2 games! And in both, the same winner. What more questions can there be? You can argue for a long time, and new arguments will always be found (if desired). Let's not engage in demagoguery. The person won, and the victory should be acknowledged. If he plays again, he'll win again. What else? Of course, it's not my place to interfere in the judge's affairs, but I have the right to express my opinion! Dudge deserves the victory! So let's congratulate him! And it would be fair to attribute the details with the rules to their initial imperfections!
Мне больно видеть белый свет,мне легче в полной темноте. КиШ.
I can only say one thing: we are all imperfect, and sometimes we make mistakes not only in the game but also in life, even when trying to do good.
But we always remember that the game should remain a game, and people should be people and comrades to each other.
On behalf of everyone who caused so much inconvenience to the finalists, and, first of all, on my own behalf, as the appointed judge, I offer my apologies.
And, of course, I congratulate Dudge on the victory!
Good luck in the final game Dudge vs Uran!
And may the strongest win! :smile49:
