Yeah, Russia and Ukraine were in the same group once. And it was Russia that we felt sorry for. It's always the same: Ukraine in a difficult group with several post-Soviet countries, Russia in an easy group (although not the easiest). But will it help them?

Well, let's hope for the best as always and believe in a miracle; that's what we do best. And we can predict how events will unfold right now. Russia will, as always, drive itself into a complete...hole...and will claw its way out of it in the very last matches, hoping for Russian luck and Hiddink's good fortune, as well as for our group rivals to take points away from our closest competitor. How about this scenario: Azerbaijan beats Finland (taking points away from the Finns in a meaningless match for them) :D, or Germany...or Liechtenstein beats everyone :D. There are many options. And, lo and behold, Russia comes in second place. Germany is, of course, first. Although, of course, we want to believe that our football will become better, more beautiful, faster, and of higher quality, etc. That we will become serious competitors on the European stage...but that's just a dream. Although, why not dream before the New Year? They say that the most incredible things come true at this time. :rolleyes: But in general... In short, the group is passable, but let's hope that our "talents" don't start deciding everything at the last moment again, showing "valerian-style" football and making us hope for a miracle for the hundredth time...and for foreign countries to help us...:(

Moscow's Dynamo signed a transfer contract with Alexander Kerzhakov. The contract is valid until 2010. I really hope that Kerzhakov will play better for Dynamo than he did for the national team this fall... FC Zenit reached the quarter-finals of the UEFA Cup!!!

The victory wasn't easy, as Zenit lost to the French team Marseille away with a score of 3:2..., but at home...:) - you should see what they did!!!
In their home stadium, they managed to achieve a victory with a score of 2:0, making the total score for both teams equal to 3, but only our team scored a goal in the opponent's field!!! - which allowed them to advance to the next round!

Congratulations to all residents of St. Petersburg, and not only them, but also to Russia, as FC Zenit is the only club remaining to represent Russia in the UEFA Cup!!! Zenit is a worthy team!

P.S. It's a pity they didn't score a third goal at the end... :)

Yesterday, I finally managed to watch almost the entire game! :) My impressions are mixed. :) I was happy about the victory, even euphoric! But on the other hand... so many mistakes were made... Pogrebnyak, of course, did well by scoring 2 goals! But if you look closely, he scored thanks to Arshavin and Tekke's amazing passes! That's who I give my respect to, and that's who deserves the credit. As for the other moments, Pogrebnyak simply squandered them, either getting tangled in his own feet – apparently, he forgot which foot was left and which was right – or shooting wide of the goal. In general, they could have scored more, but they didn't. Luckily, they didn't concede any goals. There were moments when it was enough to grab your head and take a Valerian. But despite all my criticism, Zenit looked very good! I love this team, and I was genuinely happy that Zenit made it to the 1/4 finals. :) Well done, guys! Tekke, who came on at the right time, added pace to the already tired Zenit. Tymoshchuk also looked very good and energetic! So, there's still some fight left in them. ;) Congratulations to all the people of St. Petersburg, Zenit fans, and just football lovers on this victory! :smile12: The game was difficult, tense, but we persevered and proved that we can do more! We managed not only to score the 2 goals we needed but also to keep a clean sheet! Now we're waiting for March 14th (which is already tomorrow), when the draw will take place. :) Hopefully, it won't be Bayern... but whoever it is, it will be. ;)

On Friday, March 14th, the draw for the quarter-finals and semi-finals of the UEFA Cup took place at the headquarters of the European football union in Nyon. The draw was held.

The quarter-final matches of the UEFA Cup will be held on April 3rd and 10th, the semi-finals will take place on April 24th and May 1st, and the final will be on May 14th in Manchester.

I can't remember such an unpredictable round of the Russian Championship.
Not only that, but "Krylya Sovetov," which was on the verge of relegation from the Premier League all last season, is crushing Terek away with a score of 0-3!
CSKA can't manage to win at home against Shinnik (which hardly anyone considered a competitor to last year's bronze medalist) - 1-1, and Amkar is dominating Khimki away: 0-3! And that's despite the fact that Khimki stayed in the top ten all last season solely thanks to their home matches: they had only two defeats at home all season (and those were against Lokomotiv and Moscow, very strong teams at the time, while Amkar finished only eighth last season)! However, this year, Khimki has a new stadium, and perhaps it feels like an "away" stadium for the home team.

And in parentheses - about the Tom-Dynamo match. The draw was quite predictable, given the classic situation - "a stronger team playing away against a weaker team." What's interesting is that at the time of the match, the temperature in Tomsk was 15-18 degrees Celsius (!!!) below zero!
