The game is very laggy. What could be the problem?

I think the problem might be with the OS, DirectX, or the video card drivers.
Here are some possible solutions:
1) Reinstall the OS.
2) Install the latest version of DirectX 9c from the website http://microsoft.com
3) Update the drivers for your video card.

P.S. Usually, the "lag" issue arises from the factors I mentioned.

The X200 video card is the reason for the lag. For example, I had a similar speed card in 2002, and even then, at the end of the year, I bought a 9700pro, which was several times faster. Buy a video card for at least $120. For normal 3D games, you need a mid-range card, $220-$280. For Heroes, a card for $100 will be sufficient.

100??? It won't run smoothly on maximum settings! I have a 6600GT, and it still lags, although I recently cleaned the unit from dust, and the lag has almost disappeared :) (this game manages to raise the GPU temperature to critical levels very quickly). Ideally, a 7600GT would be around $200.

guys, even with a 7600GT and an AMD3000 + 1024MB, it doesn't run great...
I don't know what this game wants...
although I might have a problem with my motherboard... it runs fine on the same configuration on my friend's computer...

I have a similar situation: a Pentium 2.4, 1MB cache, 1024MB RAM, and an ATI Radeon 9800pro with 256MB. The game sometimes lags, especially in single-player mode, usually around the middle of a map during the opponent's turn. :confused:

Athlon 2600+, 1 GB of RAM, video card ATI Radeon 5220 – a rather basic configuration. The slowdowns first appeared on already opened maps, filled with “various textured elements” (forests, etc.). I fixed it by changing the camera angle on the map, i.e., by rotating the mouse while holding down the left button. The view became more vertical, but the slowdowns on such maps disappeared. By the way, the game settings are at a medium level. Maybe this will be useful to someone. Fight on! :D

I have a laptop. The processor is AMD64x2.
It has 1 GB of RAM, and up to 256 MB of it is allocated to the video card.
The game runs very poorly. You really understand that this is a TURN-based strategy game)))
The system was installed recently, so there shouldn't be any glitches with it. I installed DirectX from the disc.
Please help if you can. It's completely impossible to play. The slowdowns are the same, whether the settings are at their lowest or highest.
Could it be that this problem is related to the fact that the processor is dual-core? I think I heard somewhere that some applications might not work correctly with it...

Do you have the latest video drivers? What version of Windows are you using? What video card do you have? And it seems like it's even written in the readme that correct operation on laptops is not guaranteed, and this is related to integrated video cards...

Set the graphics to the minimum, and the resolution to 800x600, no higher, and the lag will be minimized. Patch 1.1 will make everything perfect.

Do you have the latest video drivers? What version of Windows are you using? What video card do you have?

The drivers are the original ones, but I'm not sure if they're the latest.

Set the graphics to the minimum, resolution to 800x600, no more, and the lag will be minimized. Patch 1.1 for maximum performance.

I'm telling you, lowering the graphics doesn't help at all. I'd even say that it runs slightly faster with better graphics :p
I haven't installed the patches yet. I should try it.

Download the latest drivers from the website and install the latest patches. I think this should reduce the number of problems.
