Darkness is necessary to balance the light, at least in nature.

Maybe we shouldn't confuse philosophical questions and concepts with natural phenomena and physics? We might end up arguing that light is a stream of photons, which have no mass but do have energy... and so on. We all studied physics in school.

Light, and only it, is what motivates us to do good deeds. I choose it because light is a force that helps anyone who asks and believes in light.

Regarding the nature of things, I agree – we started from the wrong end. Regardless, light is better. Light warms, gives hope, and encourages people. Light is better than darkness.

No one has ever considered that people who fight for the light also commit dark deeds! Of course, everyone has a part of light, just as they have a part of darkness! In my opinion, darkness brings confidence and adds strength! And not every person will choose the light in life! The eternal question is who is stronger, darkness or light, but I lean towards darkness (in life). People think that light is stronger because that's what they want! Love, as they say, is light, but it causes so much pain and disappointment! Darkness gives birth to light... (initially, there was only darkness in the Universe...)

Yes, it's hard to deny that there's more darkness in our lives. But light cannot lose, because if, to put it this way, WE lose, darkness will turn against itself and destroy absolutely everything....

then I will definitely choose Darkness...

So... I completely agree with Saruman's post. The terms weren't properly defined... Does Darkness necessarily mean betrayal, and does Light necessarily mean altruism? Where do you put selfishness, calculation, and cynicism then? Is that Evil? No. It doesn't necessarily involve killing someone or doing something similar. You've taken what are essentially absolute concepts of Good and Evil and simply labeled them Light and Darkness. I much prefer the interpretation of Light and Darkness in Lukyanenko's "Night Watch," even though I don't like that book. There, the Light ones are portrayed as altruists, and the Dark ones as egoists. I myself am closer to egoism. Of course, this doesn't mean that I think you should never help another person, but constantly doing so at your own expense, if the request isn't very important, doesn't seem very wise to me. And if you take absolutes, it turns out that you either only do bad things, or you only do good things, sometimes at your own expense. Although, of course, there's the opinion that good deeds are eventually rewarded. Well... if everyone thought that way, maybe that's how it would be. I can't say which I lean towards more. I'm doing fine with egoism; I think I know when to disregard my own benefit and when not to. I've done both good and bad things for people, and honestly, even realizing that I did something bad, I didn't regret it afterward. Maybe I thought I was right at the time. So, I'm definitely not a saint, but I'm probably not the worst person either.
Also, I believe that in this matter, not everything depends on choice, especially if a person is inherently dark, so to speak; changing for the better, if they manage it at all, will be extremely difficult. It all depends on what's inherent in a person. If a person is kind, then it's certainly easier to change for the worse, but still, who would do that out of dislike?
And don't confuse philosophical Light and Darkness with physical light and darkness. The only thing that's better about light is that the human eye can distinguish things in it, but sometimes you just want to sit in the dark.

This is an UNDENIABLE fact, proven by thousands of examples, from the ideologies of both sciences to the similarity of their methods. In general, the only difference between philosophy and physics is formulas. 50% of physics is philosophy – that is, the description and understanding of ongoing processes, as well as the creation of hypotheses – all of this is philosophy; the rest are formulas. Now, about the topic: Light or Darkness? I don't even know. The world is dark. Darkness is easier; you don't have to fight or resist. For the individual, it promises benefits, money, health, and power. But you can't live in darkness. Then you chase after pleasures, greater power, and sink into sin – drugs, sex, alcohol, cruelty, self-love. And then you become addicted to all of this, and that's it – the person is dead, only the body lives. But real life happens in struggle – that's when you're truly alive, that's when you're enlightened. No matter how contradictory it may seem, a world without war is the domain of darkness, while struggle is the domain of light. Because light always fights against darkness, and darkness, in turn, corrupts. And it's much easier to fall into darkness than to emerge into the light.

Hmm... the world isn't black and white after all; it's gray. I've always been in the middle, and I have both light and darkness, good and evil, developed quite strongly, but they are in balance. I love everything, both light and darkness; both elements give me pleasure. The role of good and evil in a person. The bad side: hostility, lust, aggression, etc. The good side: love, compassion, tenderness, etc. How does a person become a leader? It seems that it is thanks to the dark side of their personality.
