Posts from [HMM II TOURNAMENT OFF] New Year Arena - 2008
Let's get this going, colleagues! I'm waiting for your verdicts!
Where should I send my results? Can I just post them here? I clearly lose to PReDS, Dust, and AASTR; it's a draw with SDV because, although he wins thanks to his elementals, his hero also disappears after the battle. I win against everyone else.
Colleagues, today we will have the preliminary results of the tournament.
Then, the results will be disputed.
Controversial arenas: Catch-SDV, a number of arenas with the participation of Mantic0re, as well as the extremely complex and multifaceted arena by Pash and Lavageth.
I would like to thank:
Dust - for the idea and implementation of the first joint tournament between two forums, as well as for all kinds of help;
GreatGenius - for providing exclusive programs developed by him, which made it possible to hold the tournament, as well as for invaluable experience;
Kyle - for help in running the tournament and support;
Catch - for support and assistance in regulating various aspects;
PReDS - for defending the honor of my clan;
all participants of the tournament - for a good game and patience.
We are waiting for the preliminary results!
2Catch If you write a battle scenario for me where I lose all my dragons, I will accept the defeat. In my opinion, without teleport and haste, your dragon will always fly away from an encounter with skeletons.

Today, Qwerty and I discussed our arena in detail. There are also quite a few options there. But there is one that definitely leads to your victory, so the controversial nature of the arena has already disappeared for me. However, I don't know if you can describe this option.

May I? Considering the amount of mana and the strength of Natasha's magic, she can use "Fly" on the Death Knights to avoid damage from the skeletons and then eliminate the elves first, followed by the skeletons, using magic arrows: 60 arrows dealing 140 damage each = 8400 damage – that should be enough. Garnul and Red Dragons clearly won't be able to defeat 14 Death Knights.
1. Gargoyle vs. Skeletons Here are a few different approaches: 1. The Dark Knight kills elves, takes damage from skeletons, then hides, followed by summoning elementals. 2. The Dark Knight moves among the skeletons, takes slightly less damage, then hides, followed by summoning elementals. 3. The Dark Knight kills elves, moves a second time, then follows step 2. 4. The Dark Knight moves among the skeletons, moves among them again, leaving approximately 500 health – there's no chance of winning.
1. Gargoyles attack skeletons. Then, different scenarios: 1. Black Dragons kill elves, take damage from skeletons, then retreat, followed by summoning elementals. 2. Black Dragons attack skeletons, take slightly less damage, then retreat, followed by summoning elementals. 3. Black Dragons kill elves, attack again, then scenario 2. 4. Black Dragons attack skeletons, attack them again, leaving approximately 500 health – no chance of winning.
All your options, as practice has shown, are at least questionable. 1. Black Dragons take damage from skeletons and Colossal Dragons (without being able to retaliate against either). A comparable number of dragons remain, and my Colossal Dragons, due to their stats, look significantly better. 2. Elves remain, and in this case, they hide behind the Colossal Dragons and skeletons, making the situation uncertain. 3. Similar to 1, if they attack the skeletons a second time, the skeletons attack them a second time without retaliation, and the battle can be lost altogether. 4. In the end, there are no Black Dragons left, only elementals, resulting in a draw. (By the way, where did you get the number 500 for the skeletons? Were you casting spells on my behalf? Naturally, on my first turn, I cast Steel Skin on the skeletons, leaving about 700 of them to deal with the elementals). The correct option was essentially suggested by PREDS. However, it needs clarification. On the first turn, you shouldn't attack the skeletons and elves, but the Colossal Dragons (!) without retaliation. Block the elves with red dragons, sacrificing them. On the second turn, eliminate the elves with black dragons, losing half of them in the process. Then, retreat from the skeletons and simply use the ranged attack. My 3 Colossal Dragons won't be able to defeat your 7 Black Dragons. This is the only option that clearly leads to your victory. In the others, as I repeat, there are possible outcomes. We can continue arguing, but what's the point? I myself found a clearly losing option for me and have already agreed to the defeat :)
Let's all thank Kyle and move on to discussing the preliminary results.
I'm very interested in the match between Pash and Lavageth. I would like to know the battle tactics used by both players. The arena has a "double bottom," and I'm almost certain the final result will be a "fractional" one.
