Joint Tournament for Heroes of Might and Magic 2 across three resources HeroesWorld, HeroesLeague and HeroesPortal

"Witch Hunt-2008"

Dear colleagues!
We are witnessing a grand, unprecedented event in the world of heroes - the same-time tournament of three forums "Witch Hunt-2008" is starting.

It is difficult to overestimate the historical significance of this event - we have set own path toward creation and consolidation. The renaissance of the second heroes, for which so much has been done by representatives of the hero community, continues!

We announce an off-line tournament on the Heroes 2 game version, taking place simultaneously on HeroesLeague, HeroesPortal, and HeroesWorld with a prize pool of 200 USD.

Links to the tournament discussion on other resources:
Tournament Rules:

1. General Provisions:

1.1. The tournament will be held from January 22 to February 23, 2008. Tournament results will be announced on February 26, 2008.
1.2. The tournament is held simultaneously on three Internet resources: HeroesLeague, HeroesPortal, and HeroesWorld
1.3. The prize pool of the tournament is - 200 conventional units (1 unit = 1 US dollar)
1.4. Tournament winners receive rewards corresponding to each resource (rating, fiefs, arroba) on each resource, but the prize pool is divided among the first three players from those who are registered on all three resources.
1.5. The prize pool is divided in the following ratio: First place - 100 units, second place - 60 units, third place - 40 units.
1.6. ATTENTION!!! Throughout the tournament, a player is OBLIGATED to make saves at the beginning or end (preferably both) of EVERY game day and store them on their computer! The judge has the right to demand daily walkthrough saves and explanations for them from ANY player, up to a description of the tactics of a specific battle.
In the absence of satisfactory explanations (from the judges' point of view), the player's result is annulled.
If there is a satisfactory description of the walkthrough but necessary saves are missing, the player is credited with a defeat. The statute of limitations (during which daily saves must be kept) is equal to 7 days after the results of the round are summarized.
1.7. The tournament leads are: on HeroesLeague - Dust, on HeroesPortal - Catch, and on HeroesWorld - Qwerty.
1.8. The player must name their final save with their nickname and send it to one of the addresses: HeroesLeague - alex_dust@mail.ru, HeroesPortal - catch@heroesportal.net, HeroesWorld - qwertyheroes@gmail.com

2. Walkthrough Restrictions:

2.1. It is strictly FORBIDDEN to use cheat codes, forbidden bugs and game features, hack saves, or manipulate computer players in hot-seat mode during the final run. The use of standard cheat codes for initial save scouting is permissible. However, after scouting, the player must load the starting save and start the game again.
2.2. Rule for digging up the Ultimate Artefact (UA). UA can only be dug up after visiting ALL obelisks. To prove this fact, the player must send another save to the organizers along with their final save, showing that all obelisks were visited before digging up the UA. "UA" must be added to the end of such a save name.
2.3. Moving a hero who was ransomed after fleeing/buying off in battle on the day they fled/bought off. Ransoming such a hero is allowed on the day of flight/buy-off;
ransoming and moving your dismissed/killed in battle hero is only possible the next day after their dismissal/death;
if a hero fled/bought off/died in battle during turn transition, they can be ransomed and moved immediately;
computer heroes can be ransomed and moved the day after their death.
2.4. Visiting graveyards, demon caves, and ghost ships. Ships with skeletons may be visited.
2.5. The use of "Haunt" magic and the "feeding" technique for spirits is forbidden; i.e., only one battle with a given squad of spirits is allowed, during which it is mandatory
to make a save before the battle and immediately after it. Attacking neutral spirit squads and capturing abandoned mines with a hero carrying ghosts is strictly forbidden!
2.6. It is forbidden to use monster growth weeks +5 and months of double monster population increase. In case such weeks and months occur, the player must "roll back" until these specific week and month no longer appear.

3. Tournament Goal:

3.1. The goal of the tournament is to collect 2000 ghosts (wraiths, spirits, witches) in the minimum amount of time.
3.2. The main victory criterion is the number of days spent collecting the required number of ghosts. The secondary criterion in case of equal days is the number of ghosts in the final save. If this criterion is also equal, the winner is determined by the sum of skills of the hero with ghosts, including equipped artifacts.
3.3. In the player's final save on the map (adventure map), only the hero with ghosts should be present. All other heroes must be dismissed. If more than one hero is present on the map, the organizers reserve the right to choose the main hero with ghosts at their own discretion.

After receiving your save, you will see in the application table that:

save accepted - indicated by a bold Nickname.
save not credited - indicated by a red bold Nickname.

This list may be added to by new participants!
We invite everyone to take part in the tournament!

Everything about the starting save

1. Download the save and map.
Note: The save and map are archived using WinRar 3.62.

2. The downloaded save must be placed on your computer in the Games folder within the directory where Heroes 2 is installed.

3. Load it and start playing at any time convenient for you, while remembering to make daily saves.

4. After completing up to the last action (i.e., when you have armies >= 2000 ghosts), save again.

5. A full description of the tournament map is encouraged (optional). If provided, a contest for the best description will be held, and the top 10 (the very best) will take their place of honor in the "Hall of Fame" section!

6. Send this save to the specified address (in the rules of this tournament).

7. Wait for the results.

P.S.S. I wish all tournament participants a good game.

The idea is very interesting, and I might participate, but I would like to see the map and save file first to assess my capabilities. Also, I didn't understand what you meant by "feeding" the spirits. Could you provide more details about this?

Also, I didn't understand what you meant by "feeding" the spirits. Could you please elaborate on this?
"Feeding spirits" is a specific tactic that can be used to increase the number of spirits in a neutral stack almost infinitely (in reality, after the battle, there will be no more than 4000 of them, although during the battle, their number can be as large as you want). This is achieved by attacking the spirits and sacrificing a large number of your own creatures to them. The effect can be further amplified by using the Mirror Image spell.

So, the deadlines are perfect, but it really would be a good idea to take a look at the save and the map as well... :)

Question:
will ser Catch be playing for ХП or ХВ :) ?

2 Qwerty:
probably also worth stating who from the heroesworld residents plans to participate — either in the clan thread, or via PM to our charismatic...

A little later, Kyle, the co-organizer of the tournament who kindly agreed to help, will post the save file and the map.
And maybe even a sign-up sheet!
This tournament is a joint effort; it's not a match between forum A and forum B, but rather a collaborative tournament.

I've never done this because it's forbidden, but as far as I remember, to increase the number, you need to attack again after passing the turn. If you attack on the same day, the number will remain the same.

to all: Added the save file and the map – you can download and view them. Also, I slightly edited the post (made it look better) and added a table of participants. Good luck.

2 Reper: Well, most likely because Catch is one of the leading ones, specifically on heroesportal.

and the organizers can also participate in tournaments... the question is, what they need is to complete the map faster than everyone else and send the save to an uninterested person before the first participant sends their save;).....

Well, the organizers can participate in tournaments... the question is, why would they need to complete a map faster than everyone else and send the save file to an uninterested person before the first participant sends it;).....
But, to avoid any complaints and unpleasant disagreements, it's better for the organizer not to participate in the tournaments they are running. Especially in tournaments with prize money.

Sincerely.

P.S. For example, I don't participate in the tournaments I organize for this very reason.

Okay, now everything is clear. Especially when it comes to money – that’s a serious matter ;);)). Thanks for the explanation.

It wouldn't hurt to add a clause to the rules regarding the date and time frame (a few hours) during which the preliminary results should be posted on all three resources...

P.S. VBN, I'm counting on you! Drop everything...
