Posts from How many factions are there?
In your opinion, what is the optimal number of races in Heroes 5?
In my opinion, even 4 standard races would be enough. Humans, elves, dwarves, undead (or demons). Why make forest elves, night elves, blood elves?! Doesn't it seem stupid to you? The same goes for dividing one human race into 3: paladins, archers, and some kind of griffons. Or dividing the undead into ghosts, skeletons, and zombies.
Of course, doing it that way would be just silly, but four races are still too few. And the fact that there was a division into forest and dark elves is normal; both of these races have long been widely known, so there was no division of one race here. And four races are much more diverse than four.

By the way, the developers came up with a great idea to add one faction in each new expansion pack. On the one hand, this is commercially beneficial for them, and on the other hand, we get tired of all the factions after some time, but later an expansion pack with a new faction comes out and introduces some variety into the game.
Nah... It seems now that the more factions there are, the better and more interesting it is, and so on. But in reality, you'll play for a month, and it will all get boring. New factions will stop being new, and the interest will fade. In my opinion, right now it's just right: four factions that are conventionally evil, and four that are conventionally good. And if you add any, then at most two. One good and one evil.
Simply brilliantly said!))) Right now, we're playing, and it's not getting boring. If they add factions, it will get boring literally within a month!)))

Well, eight factions are enough for me, but if they add well-designed factions, I wouldn't mind. The game won't become less interesting. It will become boring if the factions are not well-designed and quickly become tiresome, and it's very difficult to create many interesting factions.
And at the same time, it's necessary to maintain balance and not go beyond the boundaries of the "Heroes" game world. Although it would be funny if they added cyberpunk to the 5th installment, just for laughs. Like mechs, for example.

P.S. If you can come up with new, bright, and expressive elves, dragons, and other creatures, then they can be added too. (A very, very big IMHO – you can never have too many elves and dragons :) )
