well, for now, I've started working on the Altgarde model – I first tried to make the skin a pale green with a bluish tint, but it didn't turn out well. I haven't finished the armor yet – it would be good to make the helmet visible, and a small buckler would also look nice. The main thing is that there's still space on the texture for all of this, but I'm feeling lazy... The shields I found are large and wooden, they don't really work as bucklers, and I don't want to give shield abilities for protection against arrows, so I'll deal with it later.
And a message to the moderator team – it turns out that the Necropolis discussion thread in Heroes 6 is filled with spam topics. You should check the "top 10" from time to time to see who is creating new threads where....

No, rather the opposite... the mountains are occupied by green orcs.
Gray orcs are not a subspecies, but the result of certain magical rituals - they will have the ability "demon" (which in the mod is renamed to "spawn of darkness"), orcs will have, like the Haven faction, both dark and light magic, and Altgreed is a "dark" upgrade that is immune to unholy words.
They appeared during the war with someone "good," for example, dwarves and mages might have decided that the orcs were taking too much gold and artifacts for passing through the underground trade route and it would be good to shut down this business....
Some time ago, I abandoned the Orc Peasant concept due to a couple of issues and a lack of ideas for alternate upgrades.
Now I'm working on Berserkers. I'm not sure yet whether to keep the Bonecrusher animations or use the fist strike animation only for stunning. If I go with the latter, I'll need a versatile weapon that looks good with both slashing and fist strike animations... but I haven't come up with anything yet, so I'll probably just use the Bonecrusher animations.
I'm also considering replacing the stunning attack with a claw strike to avoid copying the Knight. Or, I could add two blades to the brass knuckles, like an cutlass, and forget about the stunning attack... I'm not sure yet.
I'm creating an alternative skin. I spent a long time choosing the skin color; there were options for pale red/green/purple tones, but in the end, I decided to make the Orc dark with white markings and bone armor/weapons.

I'm also thinking that instead of stunning, it would be better to use a claw attack, so as not to copy the Armored Knight... or add two blades to the gauntlets, like an boarding cutlass, and forget about stunning... I'm not sure.
Wouldn't the Jaguar Warriors from the 6th game work as a concept? (Essentially 1 to 1 - Orc Bonecrushers) 🤔

Wouldn't the analogy to the Jaguar Warriors from Heroes 6 work as a concept? (Essentially 1 to 1 - Orc Bonecrushers) 🤔
I was thinking of doing it that way, but there was a similar idea in Heroes 6 - there will be an alternative upgrade on the Assassin model, and Assassins have fur on their shoulders, so you could put something furry on their head, I wanted a bear head... but now I'm thinking that a bone helmet made from a feline skull would be better.
The entire alternative upgrade will have skulls on the equipment; for Tier 1, there's a rodent skull, for Tier 2, bird skulls, and for Tier 5, reptile skulls.
I was thinking of doing it this way, but a similar idea was used with Tier 6 – there, an alternative upgrade will be on the Assassin model, and Assassins have fur on their shoulders, so you could put something furry on their head; I wanted a bear head... but now I think a bone helmet made from a cat skull would be better.

There's no need to make it 1-to-1, nor to put a skull on their head (like with the Berserkers). My suggestion was more about the idea of their weapon, and the rest of the equipment (armor) can be designed in many different ways.
---- -- -- *The main problem with the Bonecrushers is that they are a "trash" unit even at the idea stage. They could be an acceptable Neutral unit, with such an "exotic" weapon, but not as a Tier 4 unit for the most armored Faction, where, in fact, all their allies will fight in an organized formation...
- Simply put, for a formation battle, the Bonecrushers look ridiculous, and this is the problem with their very idea. Ranged units? Yes! Berserkers with a large hammer, another two-handed weapon, or paired weapons (like axes) – that could be acceptable. But not gauntlets and daggers...
*In this regard, the Jaguars are much more convincing. Firstly, they are part of the Orc Faction, whose tactics are the opposite of the Dwarves. Secondly, they are larger, and their weapon allows for free hand movement, which allows them to grab/intercept the opponent's weapon, perform grapples, and use power moves. In Heroes 5, similar equipment is used by the Hunters, but since there are obviously no such units in your mod, my idea is to give the Orc Berserkers "Claws" or Blades attached to their bracers and similar devices. Instead of trying to give them a weapon "in their hands," which will obviously not go well with the animations of the Bonecrushers/Berserkers.
*However, these are just my suggestions and observations.

I have never had any problems with the perception of Berserkers; the Tahn also have a silly design – they differ from the Berserkers only in that they have full plate leg armor and a plate gauntlet. I think that Dwarves are at least prone to fighting without formation.
Orc Berserkers wield axes normally; I have been using this since 2014. Back then, there were Dwarves with sabers, and now there are Orc Berserkers.
I wanted to use claws, but I abandoned them because I wanted to make a Berserker with a boar theme – a swine-frenzy, but I couldn't find a boar helmet, so I just decided to make an Orc until an idea comes to me. I painted them, painted them, painted them, and made them purple, added a brown leather base, and yellow bones... and so the modern concept of an alternative grade was born, and the claws were forgotten

Orcish Berserkers wield axes perfectly well; I've been using this since 2014. Back then, there were Dwarves with sabers, and now there are Orcish Berserkers.
I wanted to use claws, but I abandoned that idea because I wanted to create a Berserker with a boar theme – a "boar-frenzy" type. However, I couldn't find a boar helmet, so I just decided to make an Orc until a better idea came to me. I kept painting them, painting them, painting them, and they turned purple. I added a brown leather base and yellow bones... and that's how the modern concept of an alternative grade was born, and the claws were forgotten.
Well, if it works, then it works :)
*By the way, there's a Boar Helmet in Dark Souls (the first one). I'm not sure if you import models from there and if it would suit you? 🙄

I took the models from the first DS from the models-resource website; I didn't see a boar head there, and it's too late now – the unit is almost ready.
Ron54 - the discussion here is more about the fighting style than the unit's build. Whether it's jaguars or berserkers, they wield short blades like castanets on their fists, and mutant orcs are cool, it's a shame I'll never be able to make them. As far as I understand from the DoC cards, there are more shapeless orcs in the desert... the developers of the seventh installment ruined everything as always. X)

Ismail - I made a version of the orcs with claws because I couldn't find any good axes. You can check it out in the VK group if you're interested: https://vk.com/public202971700. And since the site isn't suitable for communication right now, I'll be posting everything there.
