Probably a Windows RESTART? It would be nice to hear the solution! (Maybe it will be useful to someone?)
He installed Heroes from a flash drive on a clean computer - DirectX was missing.
Restarting doesn't help if "fast startup" is enabled in the power settings - this prevents the computer from fully restarting, so for example, I wrote that you need to restart the computer by shutting it down incorrectly.
Good afternoon, perhaps this is not the right place, but I have a question. Recently, during battles on the surface, in combat mode, there is always fog or haze. Has anyone encountered this, or does anyone know where I can fix it?
I'll repost the mod so it doesn't get lost. This mod increases the size of the message window. I saw it in a map screenshot and couldn't resist. It might be useful for mapmakers. I can't provide a screenshot from the game, so here's a JPG of the texture. If something displays incorrectly in the game, please send a screenshot, and I'll fix it.

Well, I would duplicate the link to the old post in this one; if there's a virus there too, then that's just how it is.
Similar story: I've been using Granny Viewer for many years, and my antivirus has never blocked it, but in 90% of cases when I send it to someone, people say there's a virus in it.
Well, I don't know, but Kaspersky Endpoint Security 12.5.0.539 (for Windows) flags this file as infected when I try to download it!
I downloaded Kaspersky Small Office Security, updated the databases, and the result is in the screenshot. This mod, without any changes, is stored in three versions on my desktop. From bottom to top by date: a folder with the mod files, an archive with the mod, and the mod itself.

update: I downloaded my mod, and nothing happened.
Ha-ha-ha! Maybe the archiver is infected... try using 7-Zip in its native 7z archive format! Also, you need to run a full scan with Kaspersky Small Office Security, with all possible options checked, such as heuristic analysis, etc.!

This is your third comment, and there's still no evidence of a virus, and I'm chasing rumors. No screenshot of the antivirus warning, no screenshot of the scan results after you checked the downloaded archive. Maybe we should switch places: you provide proof, and I chuckle, guess, and come up with theories.
I should have stopped right after mentioning the online VirusTotal resource.

Okay, I understand your point. Let's assume the archive is not infected... lol.
I understand, okay... consider the archive as not infected... lol
I believe you are projecting your own assumptions. Otherwise, I don't understand your reluctance to share a screenshot of the notification and a screenshot of the scan report for the archive with the mod. In turn, I took the time and performed a disk check on drive "C", where the mod is also located. The first screenshot shows the scan settings, and the second shows the result. I don't have higher settings for selective scanning in Kaspersky. If there is a virus, neither Kaspersky on my PC nor an online resource with 63 scanners detects it. Besides psatkha and myself (who downloaded it twice, checking with an antivirus), the mod has been downloaded 6 more times. If anyone else encounters a similar problem, please let us know, preferably by attaching a screenshot(s).
I can say right away that it is difficult (and probably impossible) to embed a virus into the archive itself (its format structure - rar/tar/zip/cab) and infect a computer simply by opening the archive (at least I don't know of any such cases, nor do I know of tools capable of doing this). For a thorough check, I can suggest the following: download the archive (this cannot infect your computer!), unpack it in a "sandbox," then check all the files from the archive and repack it back in the "sandbox" to see how the antivirus reacts. In general, it's a shame that the forum doesn't support the Rar format, as it's a relatively safe format compared to Zip, and the antivirus reacts to it (without reason) much less often, although it supports it on par with other archive formats.
