Indeed, there's something strangely captivating about the first Heroes game. I recently finished the campaign for Archibald in the second game, and then I decided to play through the first game as Slayer. I didn't stop until I finished it; I even put Starcraft aside.

I think everyone who has played Heroes for a while has played it; it's that kind of game.

Not bad for a game, the graphics were even decent for that time!

The first part is my favorite. I don't play the others anymore.

No, I liked the first part, but it has the same drawback as the second – only five slots for warriors, but the plus is that the characters are larger.

The graphics for that era are great; I played a couple of tournaments on the Portal and really enjoyed it, but it doesn't compare to Heroes 5.

I was just thinking... Everyone started playing with 2 or 3 heroes, even with King's Bounty... But I started playing Heroes with the 4th installment... And then I bought a platinum edition and decided to play the 1st Heroes (after playing the 4th!)... Can you imagine the shock? All that graphics... However, like everyone else, I liked the 1st Heroes... But playing them after the 4th... it's just awful...))

You can play the first Heroes game just for fun! But only for laughs!

Secondly, I haven't played in a very long time and I didn't remember anything. I started playing Heroes 2.5 years ago: first it was 4, then 3, then 5, and recently I bought the Platinum Edition! It's cool!!! :smile01:
1 and 2 (for the most part) have some kind of inexplicable charm that makes you want to play them. The graphics are so vibrant!!! And in general, it's a good game (and in the opinion of many, it's better than 3).

Like many others, I started playing Heroes with the third installment, played it for a while, and then the fourth came out, and I immediately got hooked. Then I got a disc with all the parts (except the fifth), and I immediately installed the first Heroes out of curiosity. At first, I laughed at the creatures, but then I didn't find it so funny anymore. Firstly, it's bad that you can't choose a starting faction. Secondly, there's no market. Thirdly, because of this, I can't build Phoenixes even on the easiest difficulty because there's simply no mine! But overall, it's a very good game, but I don't play it much because of the reasons mentioned above. In principle, the creators of the subsequent parts had something to build upon.

Oh! So, I'm not the only one who appreciates the first part. Personally, I first encountered it back in 1998, and then I played the second part. Although the second part was interesting and diverse, it didn't evoke the same euphoric delight as the first. Firstly, the bright and vibrant colors of the first part immediately caught the eye. And I won't even talk about the voice acting... Well, I will. It's very cool voice acting. I have two favorite sounds: when a sprite is hit and when a gargoyle attacks. Those are some amazing sounds...

Later, my heart was given to the second part of the game... but I haven't forgotten the first. I also love the third one, with all my heart, but I spent the most nights playing the first two games ;)))

P.S. And my boyfriend turned out to be a fan of the third game... he started playing it and didn't appreciate the charm of the first and second games.

1 HoMM is 100 times better than the 4th one (:smile18: :smile18: :smile18: ) I played it 10 years ago, but even now it's a benchmark for turn-based strategy for me:smile41:

I played the 2nd one around 2000. I liked it!!
But the 1st one didn't grab me, although for its time it was a cool game.

What makes you speak so poorly of the first part? When it came out, and when did the fourth one? And another good question: which is better, the fourth or the first? I think the first! Now I don't even play the third one anymore; I have nostalgia for the first. Yes, there's a lack of a market there, and the biggest drawback of the first and second is the 5-stack limit, but everyone has units that are objectively worse than others, at least for me, and that's why it's not such a big problem. I like the units more than in the second one. I would change it and make it 5 stacks in the fourth, which would suit it, and in the first, 7 or 6! I started playing the first one, but I think I would play it again even after the fourth! You get attached to 1, 2, and 3 with your heart! But what is so captivating about the fourth? Let the fans of the fourth part forgive me, but it's complete garbage, at least as part of the Heroes series. As a game, I wouldn't say it's garbage, but it's not that great either.

I actually started with the third game, but I strangely enjoy the simple graphics of the first one.
