And also... why does the AI split the army into small groups and move them around in tiny chunks? Who even worked on the AI in this game? Seriously!

Guys, am I going crazy?
I'm starting a game as Sylvan. I take a Druid and an Archer. Difficulty is set to third. I go to kill neutral creatures. The army keeps accumulating in the town. After leveling them up to level 15, or even higher, I take the warriors from the castle (in the Portal, I always choose Manticores) and defeat the AI.
What's wrong with my tactics?
Why does the AI in Heroes 3 constantly find me and attack, while in Heroes 4 it just sits in its castle or wanders nearby? Why is there no dynamic gameplay, everything is so slow and boring??? I love Heroes 4, but I only play it to see if the AI can beat me even once...
I haven't played against other players yet, but I will soon.
I described my point of view; I like to play with one hero. It’s just more convenient for me. Of course, the hero must be good. If the hero is strong, then a large army theoretically makes the situation worse (I mean a large army that isn’t strong, but consists of many weak creatures). I’ll explain: let’s say in a battle, my enemy consists of griffins. My hero knows 5th-level Chaos magic and 1st-level Warfare (making the hero level 21). It will be easier for me to defeat the griffins with one hero than, say, with berserkers, centaurs, and thieves. First, it takes longer. Second, the enemy army will be divided into three squads in battle (because of my army). But if the hero is alone, there will be one squad of the enemy army. And it’s easier and faster for me to defeat one squad than several.
1. Two Chaos heroes with a small force to divide the enemy squads. We choose a location where only one squad can attack us. One Chaos hero covers the other, having drunk a potion of healing beforehand. The squad attacks him – he gets up. Then, the magic that skips the enemy’s turn is constantly cast on this squad. The second one sprays everyone with a flamethrower. If the enemy doesn’t have archers or magical units, you can defeat solid troops in this way, and we’re not talking about heroes of level 15, 18, or 21, but much weaker ones – like levels 5-10. The question is only about the number of mana potions you drink. :)
2. Let’s say a Barbarian and a Life hero. The same thing. The Barbarian covers the Life hero, and he casts, for example, regeneration, shield, retribution, and periodically heals. The Barbarian can simply press the “defense” button if he’s having trouble taking the hits. But when the enemy in the squad is reduced, he will restore his health with regeneration and is ready to receive the next enemy squad that attacks him. Here, too, I meant not very powerful heroes.
Or a Druid and an Archer:)) They take everyone down at the beginning... I've already described the tactic...
And I don't have much experience with the game.
I haven't seen 15 angels guarding a sawmill yet :)) I'm basing my opinion on the number and quality of neutral creatures on the vast majority of maps ;)
And I don't have much gaming experience.
Dear Whitemoon, try participating in the "New World" tournament, and I promise you'll see not only Angels guarding sawmills, but also Black Dragons.
I agree that in Heroes 3, the AI is SMARTER? It makes more moves and splits its armies less.
Why is he dumber in the 4th game??? What's the matter? Why couldn't they make him like in the 3rd game?
Are you asking us? ))
I'm also curious.
Why is the AI dumber in the 4th game??? What's the problem? Why couldn't they make it as good as in the 3rd game?
If you add a couple of difficulty levels for the AI and remove the first two, then only IronAxe will be able to play on the maximum difficulty.
