A question has arisen that requires the opinion of many serious players. We have a question.

Should the developers of HotA fix the appearance of heroes in a tavern with 2000+ movepoints? (after their death/removal)

The issue has been discussed with the HotA developers, and they can make it so that heroes always appear with a normal starting number of moves if players consider this to be a necessary change.

My opinion:

The appearance of 2000+ moves on a removed hero does not follow from the game's logic. Logically, the increase should be the same as for the first time purchased heroes. This is an obvious bug in the game, a result of incorrectly written program code.

This bug is clearly being exploited. For example, players try to create 2400+ heroes by going to the stables and then digging, relying solely on luck. The point is that one player can dig up such heroes in 2 attempts for 5000 gold. Another player might not find any in 20000.

Such heroes can be reliably prepared for the next turns. Increase their stats with fast units/artifacts, visit the stables, and position them for an attack. This is a fair way.

I believe that in addition to the changes in Heroes of Might and Magic II, the effect of visiting any objects on mana points should not be taken into account when redeeming a previously dismissed/killed hero. Also, it would be good to fix the issue of incomplete heroes for the blue player, when the redeemed hero has no movement points or cannot perform an attack. A player who has spent 2500 on a hero should receive its full functionality, regardless of the actions of the red player.

I agree with Xocenk's arguments, I'm also in favor.

I agree with Petya.
This raises the question of bonuses from stables, watering holes, and artifacts. In my opinion, only artifacts should be taken into account. If bonuses from watering holes and stables are left in, everything will remain the same, i.e., players will send their hero to the stables/watering hole, remove them, and in this way try to find their hero with 2k movement points if they need it. Of course, this is more expensive, but there are many cases where heroes with 2k movement points are necessary.

If a hero does not have any movement points when hired, it is not because the player was red or blue. It's because he was retreated with no movement points and another hero "covered him" in the tavern window.

I agree, there's no point in that. And I think it should be done so that defeated heroes no longer appear in the tavern.

I support Xocenk and Saneok idea, just would add to that, that not only movements points, "used dd", but skillset as wellI would restart. So basically, dead, or delated hero is completely restart.

I strongly agree with removing 2k heroes and I also think that Saneok's idea is worth considering.

I'm all for it, but besides fixing the 2k heroes issue, all the less noticeable movement bugs should be fixed as well: heroes entering the tavern after redeeming previous ones behave as if they have 3 stacks of movement points (hello to most ranged units with 1500 movement points), newly redeemed heroes who, for some reason, have no movement points or almost none (there are several variations as to why this bug might occur) – I might not remember everything off the top of my head. I don't think anyone wants that kind of randomness.

I agree.

Also, ideally, implement a complete "reset" of heroes upon death/removal.

(As I understand it, complete exclusion might create problems if all 160 characters are in the game, which would be less than 200k for each player, which is quite achievable in regular 1v1 games, and considering the prisons, the sum is much smaller).

A second, especially a full, life for a hero doesn't fit into the overall game logic.

P.S. It's important to understand that this fix is different from some amateur suggestions, where the implementation simply changes the importance of factors, while randomness remains. This is not a balance fix, but a fix for the absurdity that, for some reason, has taken root and was not fixed earlier.

P.P.S. One of the remnants of the SOD era was already removed – hit-and-run tactics by guards to reduce the number of units in the game relative to the number of gold. It's time to deal with this as well.

I would keep the stable bonuses and maybe some other boosts. Otherwise, yes, this is a bug.

I strongly support Xocenk opinion.

From my point of view 2000 mp on removed heroes was soft bug which was commonly accepted by all players since it was not huge deal.

After further exploit was discovered and it is clear how to 'produce' fast heroes it is about time to get it fixed.

Removed heroes should be handled in the same way as surrendered (Movement points are regenerated if they spend night in tavern, with speed limited by 1-stack unit they are bought with. Mana points should not be regenerated).

For fixing this nonsense. Adding 2k heroes only adds even more uncontrollable randomness to the game. A hero should have the speed of the slowest unit they bring to the tavern. Bonuses from artifacts and stables can be left as is.
