There's this ugly character – a Knight, Lord Haart. He's simply invisible through the map editor. If you ban all units on the map using the map editor, he'll appear in the tavern.
Yep, Ley beat me to it with Haart :) SandroXXL also encountered this, and I created a thread about it without getting an answer... So, it seems like a bug...
If we recall the story, Lord Haart was a Knight, I think. And then they turned him into a Necromancer, but the core probably still has the old "prototype." That's why his unit gets thrown onto the rampart when there's simply no one else to recruit... In short, these are just assumptions... But what does Caitlin have to do with it?

I think they probably created the core first, and then wrote the scenarios for the campaigns... Well, never mind - I guess you won't tell me where the numbers come from in the physics engine?:D
And Caitlin has nothing to do with it; you can add her in the editor... Right, Ley? The problem is specifically with Haart...

Amber Solder, sorry for the off-topic, I'm reading your "Physics and Magic." Where did you get the numbers from? For example, regarding the logistics of Might and Magic? I think you somehow unlocked these Heroes, maybe using DOS... Because, I think, getting them empirically would be a headache... Sniffer also leads to the same thoughts... Won't you teach me this secret? I would really like to delve into the original source:D
Then your path lies with the developers of TE... Contact Horn, he will tell you where to find the original sources. :)
As for logistics, the tests were conducted on TE, where you can simply see the numerical MP reserve of a hero. I didn't do the tests - there are good people on this forum who conducted them in their time - this is mentioned in the reference. What other numbers are confusing you?

Good, let's contact Horn. The numbers aren't confusing, what's confusing is that I don't know how to get them myself :D
And what is TE...?

Good, let's turn to Horn. The numbers don't bother me; what bothers me is that I don't know how to get them myself:D
And TE is...?
Tournament Edition is an add-on to Shades of Darkness, adapted for holding tournaments (for competitive players). On the Heroes League website, there are very detailed manuals with all the details; you can also talk to Horn there – he is one of the authors of the project and the lead developer.
Thanks, Amber, I'll find time to check out the Dungeon faction as well.
And thanks for the physics update, Amber. It's great. There are a few minor issues, I don't remember them right now, but you messed up the Necropolis specialization... Ah, here it is: Moandor specializes more in liches than in vampires (section "1.1. hero specialization at the start")...
Okay, I won't go off-topic here anymore.

Exactly, a Priest Lord Haart appears, and not a Necropolis hero...

And Caitlin has nothing to do with it; she can be added in the editor... Right, Ley? The bug is specifically with Haart...
The bug is with both of them; Caitlin is also on the "infected" list :D I don't understand at all... What is this...?

I've already fixed this mistake, but I won't update the guide yet, I need to work on it some more... If you see any other mistakes, let me know in a private message. It's impossible to keep track of everything.

But the bug with hacking the game to add specific heroes to the tavern remains :) I wonder if this hack can be detected by some program from the organizers or a sniffer? Maybe someone could check it out? :)
But the issue with hacking the game to add specific heroes to the tavern remains :) I wonder if this hack can be detected by some program from the organizers or a sniffer? Wouldn't it be worth checking? :)
As far as I understand, you're not talking about hacking the game, but about setting up specific heroes when creating a map using the map editor. This cannot be detected with a sniffer. It's best to simply ask the author about it. A sniffer only scans the save file for standard cheats being read from it ;) :D :D

I thought you had already managed it... But no! :( Let's try a different approach... :D
Iron, the desired hero will appear in the tavern, at worst, it will cost you 2500 gold, which isn't critical... Why hack the save file for this?
As I understand it, you're not talking about hacking the game, but about configuring specific heroes when creating a map using the map editor. This can't be detected with a sniffer. It's best to just ask the map author about it. A sniffer only scans the save file for standard cheats. :D :D
You misunderstood. After I figured out where the taverns and heroes in them are located in the save file – just to check if I'm looking for the right hero, maybe he's in someone else's tavern – and also because my "excavator" isn't working, I realized that there's no point in manually adding the hero I want to a tavern. However, I'm not completely clueless and I understand that this could give me an unfair advantage in the game, i.e., adding a hero who shouldn't be available in that situation. Besides, they could easily catch me doing this, even without a sniffer. I've already made my position on hacking clear. I can (can, but doesn't mean I do) only modify things that save real time and don't give me an unfair advantage in the game, things that can't be realistically achieved in the game. Naturally, this kind of modification won't be detected, so the logic is that if I was able to figure this out, then someone else probably figured it out a long time ago and is already using it. Regarding this topic, I'm still hoping to get the "excavator" working. I think it's more reliable. There's basically no room for error there. With manual modification, you can make mistakes. So, it requires careful checking and accuracy, which takes a lot of mental effort, and nerve cells don't regenerate. :)

I thought you were over it... But no! :( Let's try a different approach... :D Iron - the hero you need will appear in the tavern through the "excavator"; in the worst case, it will cost you 2500 gold, which isn't critical... Why hack the save file for this?
Well, when "excavating," you usually get (if it's not a weekly event) 2500 gold anyway. My questions started after unsuccessful attempts to get the "excavator" working
Well, during excavations, you usually get at least 2500 resources (if it's not the change of the week). My questions started after unsuccessful attempts to get an excavator working.
But why "at least"?... :)
If scouting has provided a list of specialists needed for the operation, they are hired in the first few days, one after another. No one unnecessary is hired, and money isn't wasted on idle layers... :) It's a different story when there's a "sudden" need for a specific specialist; then, we hire anyone just to have someone with the desired skill... In this case, we waste 2500 on "anyone." But then, the entire scouting team needs to be fired – if specialists aren't needed, they should be planned for in advance before the game starts... :)
If reconnaissance provides a list of specialists needed for the operation, they are hired in the first few days, one by one. No one unnecessary is hired, and money isn't wasted on superfluous personnel... :) It's a different story when there's a "sudden" need for a specific specialist; then, we hire anyone who has the desired skill. In this case, we waste 2500 on "anyone." But then, the entire reconnaissance team needs to be fired – "sudden" needs shouldn't arise; specialists should be planned for in advance, before the game begins... :)
:) Of course, you described the ideal scenario with a strong reconnaissance team. I agree with that. But usually, I encounter some unplanned changes during the game, and I don't have the strength or time to dig and reorganize, especially without an excavator, so I try to correct the situation at a material cost. :( Also, I meant that even hiring the right hero still costs 2500. :) No matter how you look at it. And that even spending 2500 on an "anyone" hero isn't a waste – the hero can be used in "chains," but here, you need to look at the map – are chains and supporting heroes needed at all?
Question: Can you force the Digger to work on a save file made during a campaign playthrough using some powerful spells, rather than on a single-player map? For some reason, it only processes one cycle, and then it picks up the last save from the single-player map and starts messing with it....
Answer: Rename the extension of the campaign save file (CGM) to the extension of a single-player save file (GM1), and start digging. After the operation is completed, don't forget to restore the original extension.
