I'm saying that if the leader buff is going to disappear anyway, then maybe it makes sense to leave the party in advance and take his wyvern off him, so he can't fly around and cause trouble either.

Well, usually damage is split like 50% of one and 50% of the other, so it makes sense that the first part will always reflect the entire attack.
