Books with embossed covers look somewhat decent, but plain colored books, in my opinion, are completely out of place. Or maybe it's just fashionable in Ashan to carry around kindergarten coloring books

As I said on the stream, these are just placeholders so that they are at least visible in the backpack. Later, I'll need to Photoshop "something" onto them.

Or maybe Photoshop the levels onto them using Roman numerals?!
Or maybe Photoshop the levels to look like Roman numerals?!
I would like the center to feature these kinds of raised symbols (the symbol of knowledge from the apprentice's book, the mana charm from the novice's book, the negativity charm would look quite harmonious on the wizard's book, and a protruding crown of the archmage in the center of the archmage's grimoire). That would be ideal. Perhaps in the future, I'll find an artist who can do that (probably for money).

I recommend updating. Changes: - 8 new artifacts for Knowledge in the pocket slot - Initiative Machines upgrade on level 6 is now more difficult (requires the Education skill tree) - Reaching the Dungeon Lord now doesn't require the Wizardry skill tree - Knockback on the ATB scale for the Stunning Strike is now 0.2 - Amulet of Divine Grace is now equal to other similar artifacts and gives +4 to primary skills and costs 40,000 gold.
In Heroes of Might and Magic II, Mummies were added as an alternative upgrade.
Rotting Zombies became the third-level upgrade for Tier 2 dwellings.
That is, Plague Zombies upgrade into Rotting Zombies (they have higher stats but cost more).
Mummies upgrade into Royal Mummies, which are the third-level upgrade for Tier 2 dwellings.
Here, it's clear what and how it works.
The special thing about Mummies is that they have high initiative (14) and medium speed, and they apply the "Gloom" debuff, which reduces attack and defense by 2. But at the same time, they are very fragile, with only 10 hit points.
Royal Mummies have slightly higher stats: +1 initiative, +1 speed, +1 minimum and maximum damage, and 15 hit points (but they cost more).
Perhaps one of the most logical alternative development paths. It was a regular undead creature, but if you bury it better, embalm it, and wrap it in bandages, you get a mummy.
I don't know how balanced such heroes are, but I'm very concerned that all heroes have practically the same set of artifacts: a ring with 20 intelligence, a half-set/full set of dwarven items, a half-set of dark items, and a necklace of the blood claw.

The annual uber-late game dictates its own rules =)
Actually, I once wanted to add new heroes... I planned for 3 archetypes (level 20, 2-3 months of progression; level 30, half a year of progression; level 40, a year of progression). But I only got around to the 40-level annual progression because it's still easier to balance than the 20-30 levels. But, of course, the uber-late game also has its drawbacks in terms of artifact variety... you definitely can't win without the Berserker's shield and the boots of slowing, you'll only lose.
Nevertheless, playing with my brother, even with the same half-sets or full sets of dwarves and rings... heroes of different factions and different specializations still feel different. So I think the result is quite decent (I'm talking specifically about the balanced 40-level archetype). I would also like to clarify that the "ring of speed" and the "staff of the underworld" in Armageddon's Blade, if equipped, consume 4 defense and 1 luck.
In any case, you can go to the DuelMode branch on the server and express your opinion on which heroes and in which variations you would like to see - Discussion here.
