Blocking portals—how's that work?

On that map, there are 3 one-way portals through which enemies from inaccessible locations come at us. You place upgraded shooters with a huge army there, periodically reinforcing them with more troops, and the enemies either don't come through or get killed on them.

Marlo_Stanfield
you said you'd steer clear of Minchev's maps.

Nah, I just decided to run an experiment: whether it's possible to beat a difficult Minchev map without any editor at all. Seems like it's not. At least not without spending an absurd amount of time on it. I already checked in the editor what quest tangles need to be unraveled next and what serpentine paths lie ahead. I'll probably stop playing. I've had my fill of that quest-and-serpentine "jam" from beating Alexandretta.

The only thing—I'll still try pulling off a stunt to get to the brown respawn using water walking. If you give a hero with Expert Scouting a Telescope and Boots of Haste, they can apparently run across the water from where Solmyr is imprisoned to the lower castle Agoura and reveal the opposite shore. Then you can just ignore that brown tent. I'll just cross to the other side and that's it. That should significantly simplify further survival. Though I'll have to roll back who knows how far.

In general, there seem to be quite a lot of such loopholes on the map. For example, why was it necessary to block the passage to the obelisk at 51,140,0 with three guardians, an event that drains all mana, and a box with strong guards, if you can just walk there by water from the seer where you pick up the Red Sphere? Sink the boat and go on your merry way. Or, the passage to the Necklace of Speed, the dolphin, and the box with free 1,5K genies is blocked by a guardian demanding an absurd amount of troops and a purple pillar. What's the point of all those guardians and other obstacles if you can just walk there by water?

Yes, using scouting tactics works here; I used them myself when playing. I also took another look at the updated version of the map. Several things have been changed, but scouting remains a secondary skill, and heroes with scouting skills are still available at the start. In other words, you can still make a long path slightly shorter, which takes away one of the map's "wow" factors – freeing the red hero with a large army and high stats who is stuck in the cliff.

Yes, tricks with scouting work here; I myself went through it that way.

It seems to me that the author had too much of a desire to make all these quests more complex, and as a result, he overdid it. Therefore, it is not surprising that players, seeing all this madness, begin to look for some ways around it. As soon as I got into the editor, I immediately saw that the opposite bank is very close, it's just not visible. Figuring out how to get there was just a matter of technique.

Marlo_Stanfield
I looked at the slightly updated version of the map.

I also, since I was already in the editor, decided to take a look at the updated version. At first glance, it should be easier to complete. There is a Book of Earth, and in cities where there were no guilds, they are now available. Although, perhaps, in some ways it has become more difficult. I didn't examine it closely.

scars of reality , you said that you would bypass the Minsk maps. Let me know if you are being held hostage and forced to untangle quest chains at gunpoint.

By the way, since the conversation started, I advise you to grab the Alice in Iceland map, which was recently posted on maps4heroes. It does not look like the usual Minchev maps at all, small with a well-developed battle. Indirect signs point to the Chinese origin of the map, but figs would be with it, the gameplay is interesting anyway.
This was stolen from woshiyutong. Small edits again to pass off as being made by someone else, same issue happened recently.

Unfortunately it's not a surprise. As I understand it's a common practice for him. For example, in this thread user "The Filth" wrote about the steal of Nexus Polaris map.

I am from North Macedonia and this is my first post here because I have known Minchev's maps for many years and I like them. I think that since 2001 you have made a lot of maps and they all bear your full name; over these 19 years it is normal for newcomers to appear from time to time in order to slander you. The first map I found by the author Grigor Minchev is on heroesportal.net and dates back to 2001. On heroesportal.net, the Nexus Polaris map was posted on December 13, 2004, but 6 months before that, on June 4, 2004, the A Dracolish Helmet map was posted, which has the same Dungeon. I found this thread on our site:
/topic/at/2553/
It states that the date for the A Dracolish Helmet map is June 12, 2003.
But 8 years later, on July 28, 2011, The Filth claimed that the Nexus Polaris map belonged to him without providing any evidence. The Filth joined Celestialheavens on January 6, 2006 and was quite active there, but did he not notice for many years that someone had taken his map? This is absurd! I reviewed all possible old and new sites, and nowhere does it mention The Filth as the author. And on September 26, 2020, Barbuta stated that Grigor Minchev took his Leon's Redemption map, but provided no evidence or link to it. I searched and on all sites the map is listed under Barbuta. But I learned the following about Barbuta:
https://www.heroes3maps.com/?author=Barbuta
He passed off the "Lord of the Ring" and "Alexander The Great" maps as his own, but nothing can be done about it because he only has a nickname, Barbuta. It’s easy to slander a competitor if you have been making maps for only 1 year and you only have one nickname, Barbuta, while he writes his full name. I also checked the Alice in Iceland map. I found the map only on this site:
https://www.maps4heroes.com/forum/op...id=1943&game=3
I downloaded the map and when I opened it, I saw that it said “Authors: Woshiyutong and Grigor Minchev.” This map is not on Minchev's website. There it says that only 21 of his newest maps and latest versions have been added, and he has another 40 old maps that are not posted on his site. In 2010, Skeeve wrote that he likes Accent1, Acceptable, Afrika maps. I don't know these maps because they are not on his site and they are old. Grigor Minchev is from Bulgaria. I found out that Barbuta and The Filth are also from Bulgaria. And Vallex, the real author of "Lord of the Ring," is also from Bulgaria. It seems like competition is clearly disliked there, in Bulgaria. Barbuta has only 2 maps and loves to self-promote them, for example here:
http://heroescommunity.com/viewthread.php3?TID=46521
https://forum.heroesworld.ru/showpos...postcount=3266
Grigor Minchev and Vallex do not advertise their maps anywhere. Barbuta should stop slandering competitors and accusing someone of stealing your map without providing evidence or a link, while you stole 2 other people's maps, which there is evidence for. I believe that the Alice in Iceland map is very old and he decided to upload it just now. The map was created in collaboration with Woshiyutong, as indicated on the map. I see many maps by other authors made in collaboration on various sites, and this is normal. I found another map by Minchev from 2007 called Aniconicq, which was co-authored with KingSlayer:
https://heroesportal.net/maps/view/2790
Barbuta, why are you envious and writing nonsense about a person who has been using his full name for 19 years and making maps only out of enthusiasm? Do you want to discredit Minchev, like they did with Valery, and also steal his maps?
This is Minchev’s website. It contains only the latest versions of his newest maps. There I found version 1.3 of the A Long Way map:

Good lord, what a mess they have in the Bulgarian community. And it's only happening there; in other regions, everything seems to be peaceful and orderly. Because there's no point in claiming ownership of maps; mapmaking has always been a purely enthusiastic endeavor, not one driven by profit or popularity, just like a significant portion of other activities within our 20-year-old, thriving community.

Hello my name is Barbuta and I saw an attempt at smearing my name today. Please read my whole reply!
On the 26-09-2020 I published my map Leon's Redemption on heroes3maps.com, but then I noticed it had already been published by Grigor Minchev. Not only that but he had credited himself as the author. So I downloaded "his" version of the map to check it out and I was amazed to find that he had deleted parts of the map that proved I am the creator. Like the sign on the minimap at the bottom right corner of the map - "made by barbuta". He had also deleted the change log in one of the pandora's boxes at 96-70-1 along with several other unreachable artifacts. Not only is this a blatant attempt at stealing the work of others but by deleting the sign on the minimap, he also broke one of the earlier sequences on Wizardino's path (because the sign was made with lighthouses that give movement points at sea to the AI). Also if he has edited the map with the base editor and then saved it with that editor, the map may have bugs that are non existent in the real version.

Interestingly enough, he has changed the date of the creation of the map to point to 16-08-2019 instead of 17-08-2020 which was the official release date on the site: www.maps4heroes.com. Here is the link to the official release: https://www.maps4heroes.com/forum/opinio ... 2&game=3.

I had further proof of my ownership that I presented to the admin of heroes3maps.com and soon after on the same day the fake version of the map was gone and only the real one remained.
On the 13. 10. 2020 Grigor or someone inpersonating him posted the following maps in heroes3maps.com: https://www.heroes3maps.com/map/12904-lord-of-the-rings-4-1 and https://www.heroes3maps.com/map/12903-al ... eat-1-07.

On the site he posted the maps, he said I (Barbuta) were the author of these maps. I can assure you I did not post them and did not claim them as my own. The authorship goes to the respected creator Vallex for the Lord of the Rings map, I can't find who is the original author of The Alexander the Great map (It is not me nor it is Grigor). I reported to biggest english speaking
community map making forum that he (Grigor or someone impresionating him) tried to steal my maps. Here is a post: http://heroescommunity.com/viewthread.php3?TID=46564&pagenumber=1. The man that claims I stole the 2 maps is a fraud and probably is the one that tried to steal my map - Leon's Redemption on the 26-09-2020. As you can see both in this forum and in this thread on  http://heroescommunity.com/viewthread.php3?TID=46564&pagenumber=1, the man that claims I have posted other peoples maps as my own is a fraud (he has created the account valex on heroescommunity.com and homm3 on this site) who has created an account today (13-10-2020). He is trying to smear my name because I defended the ownership of my map on the 26-09-2020. Please do not believe his lies.

My only 2 maps that I have created and posted are: War of the 7 Realms and Leon's Redemption. The official latest versions can be found maps4heroes.com. I haven't created (or help create) any other maps. If you find a website stating otherwise - do not believe it. If this is not the place to write this commwnt please say where it is appropriate to do so. Thank you for your patience in reading this! I hope you don't suffer the same content theft attempt as I have!

Minchev created 70 maps and zero topics on the forums. You made 4 maps and posted 400 spam topics on foreign forums, and now you come here to spam. Please explain how Minchev posted your map on the site before you even created it. Where is this map? Take a picture of it and post it here. It's easy. What are you protecting with your map? Has anyone seen your map with his authorship? Maps that aren't yours have been uploaded to websites for months, and no one is causing you any problems. If you don't understand Russian, what are you doing on a Russian forum?

Minchev created 70 maps and not a single topic on the forums. You made 4 maps and posted 400 spam topics on foreign forums, and now you come here to spam. Please explain how Minchev posted your map on the site before you created it? Where is this map? Take a picture of it and send it here. It's easy. What are you protecting your map from? Has anyone seen your map with his authorship? Maps that are not yours have been uploaded to websites for several months, and no one is causing you any problems. If you don't understand Russian, what are you doing on a Russian forum?

Please read my reply... I have only 2 maps and no more. Whether Minchev or someone impersonating him tried to steal my map doesn't matter. I have 2 comments in this forum and 1 topic with exactly one reply in an English forum; if you consider this spam, then so be it. Please specify where the "400" spam comments are (I know you won't because they don't exist). My problem with my map was resolved. You are the one that fabricates my ownership of maps and revives dead threads on foreign forums. You have everything to explain. I know you are the one that created the account "valex" on http://heroescommunity.com and tried to smear my name. Why am I replying on Russian forums - because you forced me to.

Please stop doing what you are doing and read my replies on http://heroescommunity.com/viewthread.php3?TID=46564&pagenumber=1 if you wish to reply. Sorry to everyone else for writing these things here.

On the heroescommunity.com website, you created a thread: "Grigor Minchev tried to steal my map". You provided no evidence that this happened. You are also lying about the stolen "Lord of the Rings" map having been deleted. I checked and saw that it is still on the site at this moment:
https://www.heroes3maps.com
I hope the administrators delete it, and all the spam you've created will stop. For 18 days on heroescommunity.com, no one replied to you. And now, when Vallex has replied to you and is demanding proofs, you are not providing proofs. Anyone can write lies on the forums. I personally do not know Minchev. I simply played his maps. Visit this forum, and you will see that his maps were discussed long before you arrived here. Also look at the Chinese forum; currently, the Chinese have changed the name of the map "A Dracolish Helmet" and much more, and are actively playing it. Let them play. No one is accusing them of theft.

I am very surprised and don't know who to believe, but in any case, everyone should understand that claiming authorship of widely known maps is pointless, as they have long been published, and most experienced players clearly remember who actually created these maps. Moreover, you can find them on the largest map collection websites in a minute; they indicate the author and the date of publication. Here are some of the most famous and oldest ones:
https://www.celestialheavens.com/search2.php
https://www.maps4heroes.com/heroes3/maps.php
https://en.heroesportal.net/maps
The website https://www.heroes3maps.com/ was created relatively recently, and the author listed there is the one who submitted the maps. However, the maps are not always submitted by the original authors, and in that case, this information is incorrect.
Whoever started misleading others needs to stop and remove the falsely attributed maps from the websites; otherwise, their own reputation will suffer in the end, and they may eventually be ashamed to appear on Heroes websites under their old nickname.

I decided to finally finish playing "A Long Way" and now I'm sitting here like an idiot, trying to write a report about the map, like the ones other players write. It's turning out to be some kind of nonsense. Everyone else's reports are like actual reports, more like reviews of some movie. The map is described, along with its strengths and weaknesses, what to pay attention to, what was liked, and what wasn't, and a general overview of the playthrough. But I'm just writing some kind of gibberish. Just another huge story about how the map was completed. Is there any point in continuing? There's a lot of text, but there's little in it that would be understandable to those who haven't played the map.
