Posts from HoMM VII Haven Units – Haven faction units from the seventh installment of Heroes of Might and Magic.Auto-translated
When are you planning to release it for download?! :smile26:
I suspect it will be approximately never. zahar0z
Are you planning to make the models available to the public, or are the screenshots and other things just for show?
footman
Not at the moment.
In my humble opinion, footman is just showing off here for no reason. Although, of course, it is possible that he is pursuing some goal that I do not understand. In any case, it all looks rather mediocre.
Speaking of the manticore, I watched the video and remembered another mistake - the death animation. The death of the manticore from the seventh game looks like this - the manticore roars, spreading its wings, and then disappears (footman implemented this by reducing the model size). Frozensol also fixed this moment; he assembled the animation from several pieces, and in his version, the manticore falls on its side after the roar and remains in that "dead" pose. It looked quite good.
I also fixed that FrozenSol moment; he was assembling the animation from several pieces, and after the shriek, the manticore would fall on its side and remain in that "dead" pose. It looked quite good.
Is it available for download, or only as a video?!
Maybe the footman is also a "Goose," which is why there are so many tricks and intrigues? But you, Zakhar, shouldn't be so harsh; the manticores, and everything else, are really cool. Even if it doesn't end up being released (but I'm still hoping).
Is it available for download, or is it only available as a video?!
Yes, something like that. FrozenSol didn't really show off these things on the forum; we discussed them in private messages. At the time we were discussing it (a couple of months ago), everything was 90% complete; all that was left was to render the texture in Substance Painter. What happened next, whether FrozenSol abandoned the manticore or not, I honestly don't know.

Indeed, they are interesting models, but Footman has nothing to do with them, so his contribution to their creation is zero. Do you want to convert models from Heroes 7 in the same way? Just read the manual here on the forum. Do you want models from Heroes 6? Also, check out a video on YouTube about attaching a model to bones.
It's all very simple. It can be tedious, long, and annoying, but nevertheless, it's still very simple. There's nothing outstanding about this work. And I don't quite understand this whole thing where Footman is trying to get compliments and other accolades. If this is something else, and I haven't understood everything correctly, please correct me.
I just sincerely wonder why he "teases" people with screenshots and other "super-secret knowledge" while taking the position of "it's all mine." It's strange. "I have a package, but I won't give it to you." It's like we're in kindergarten, and someone bought a new toy.)) In short, it's both funny and sad. Although, of course, it's mostly funny.

Sometimes I wonder, maybe everyone on this forum is Goose? Maybe I'm also Goose? You can't be sure of anything, you know
I don't dispute the value of time, but in any case, Footman's behavior still seems unclear to me. If everything is really as it seems, then this is, of course, a pity. However, to each his own, everyone has their own quirks.
Here, by the way, if you're interested, someone is making a mod with the same models from Heroes of Might and Magic VI.
Kierby
i dont want to use Footman resources, because he dont have few details on models, and mainly because its his.
By the way, he is trying to figure out how to render textures using a painter, instead of just taking the diffuse texture "as is".
The author contacted me, asked for advice, and I helped him as much as I could, within my free time and abilities.
The author also had some communication with Footman.Kierby
I dont understand Footman politics with modding. He made all that work, just to post pictures on forum, but he already said, that he dont want to release it for public. So why he is posting on forum "Publicly"? I think thats this is very close to boasting himself. When i asked him about the technique how he imports H6 models correctly, if there is another way then the metod that i use with Blender, which took me about 12 days/1model. And he replied that it is "secret" .......When i showed him, what i have accomplished, he wanted to make a deal, that if i fix his H6 crosbowman animations (all of them), he will give me 1 model (thats almost the same as making another H6 model for me myself). I dont really get that whole approach. Why he is doing all of that. But whatever, i will make it myself, i just will be even longer then i expected. First i will import some H7 models and then my own sculpt Pit lord with some H6 units.
In any case, I'm just asking that no one take what I'm saying here too seriously. I just think all these "secrets" and "deals" are very funny.
In any case, I mainly wanted to inform you about the mod, which, unlike Footman's work, the author plans to release (or maybe has already released, to be honest, I haven't checked)
I agree with **zahar0z**. These demonstrations look very strange. It's as absurd as if mapmakers started posting screenshots of maps and snippets of scripts... without the maps themselves. And, frankly, boasting about your work that will never be released in a thread dedicated to a mod is disrespectful to others.

Since our conversation, Zahar, not much has changed. I was working on the unupgraded manticore, and it's almost ready; all that's left is to create the icon, properly render the texture, and give it sounds from Heroes 6 or 7. But honestly, I spent too much time on it, and I just got tired of it; right now, I have no desire to work on it. And in general, I've lost interest in other people's models. So, for now, I've put the work on this mod on hold indefinitely. For now, I have more priority projects; maybe I'll come back to it later.
In principle, if you want to and have the time to refine it and release it, I can give you all my work. Because I won't be coming back to it anytime soon. ----------------------------
I took a look at the screenshots from Kierby's mod.
It looks cool, but it seems to me that the textures were saved without mip-maps, which is why when the model is scaled, you can see "graininess." I should let him know about this. Kierby

That's quite something :D I haven't seen deals like that before xD
Maybe it was about something like an exchange of experience? Or am I trying to see something that isn't there?
P.S. Sorry for the off-topic and discussion of another mod and other things not related to the topic.
In principle, if you want to and have the time to refine it and publish it, I can give you all my work. Because I won't be back to it anytime soon.
Actually, it's possible, because there's only a couple of evenings of work left, and it's a shame that your almost finished project will be lost. I can't guarantee that I'll finish everything quickly, I don't know when I'll have time, but it's worth a try. Frozensoull
I looked at the screenshots of the Kierby mod. It looks cool, but it seems to me that the textures are saved without mip-maps, which is why when the model is scaled, "graininess" is visible. He should be told about this.
Yes, he already asked about it, and I replied, apparently the screenshots are old. If you remember, I also had a problem with textures at one time, and you gave me a tip about it. Frozensoull
That was amusing :D I haven't seen such deals yet xD
Secrets and hidden knowledge from the adept modders)) Frozensoull

It's strange, yes. But everyone has their own way, in the end. All that remains for us is to laugh at the absurdity of the situation: "look, I have a cool mod, isn't it? but I won't give it to you." Maybe this is some kind of strange form of trolling? Another of Goose's elaborate schemes?)) It will probably remain a mystery to us.
