When did I start watching the first 'season'? In the fall of 2012, and finished it a year and a half later on the same day that it officially ended. Of course, there were some flaws here and there in these 175 episodes, and I don't even remember how enthusiastically I watched the last ones, but overall, I really liked Fairy Tail. I think I even tried to read the manga back then, but I didn't like it; either the content itself didn't live up to my expectations, or it was just that I'm not a big fan of this format. Be that as it may, I started watching the sequel that came out the following year with great enthusiasm, but eventually dropped it very quickly. And now, six years later, I suddenly wanted to finish it. Well, what can I say? The first arc-tournament (which is where I stopped watching) didn't appeal to me at all, but after that, it becomes more or less decent. It's all cheerful and youthful, plus the author and animators have the right priorities, so there are many good shots and funny moments. In this regard, the drawing style is much more attractive than in many other popular shonen series. As for the "plot" itself, which, like everywhere else, revolves around fights, it can be described by two patterns:
- There are many antagonists who possess immense power, an order of magnitude stronger than their predecessors; the heroes are on the verge of defeat, but they overcome it and win through the power of friendship or spirit. Nothing is explained.
- Some villain inflicts a fatal wound on one of the heroes, the viewer is shown several minutes of flashbacks accompanied by tragic music, his comrades get angry and gain strength, defeat the villain, and then it turns out that the character is actually alive and well.
I have nothing against this formula, but even I had to note that it was used too often here. And if you look at the plot and world-building as a whole, little makes sense in it. Nevertheless, the experience itself is satisfactory, and if it weren't for the focus on combat, I would rate it much higher. For example, I cannot say the same about Shippuden, with which I have a similar story and which I have been trying to finish watching for some time now. Surprisingly, the plot in it is even worse (although this is not news to me, since I know it from the manga), and there are no redeeming qualities as in Fairy Tail.

In 2012-2013, my favorite character was the blue-haired young man aged 19-26, and this time it's the blue-haired loli. What could this mean...?
