The game runs perfectly, I create an account, and then it gets stuck during the scenario (or campaign) loading process. Basically, the loading bar reaches the end, and nothing else happens, and the music fades out.

4 MX does not support shaders, and the game will not run on this video card. The best solution is to purchase a new video card, at least a GeForce 5 series.

Nothing like that, I had that very GeForce 4 MX 440 video card, and everything ran on it, although it was a bit laggy. And I even played Quake 4 on it. Of course, I had to upgrade it a bit (install a powerful AMD processor cooler with a fan, and also attach heat sinks to the video memory and overclock it).

I had the same problem: the scenario loading page would appear, and then the game would crash. I have the same graphics card. Installing the patches helped. The game started with terrible lag, but I also have very little RAM (only 256 MB), so it might be due to that. But the texture glitches in the elven and mage castles still don't get fixed. Shelma, with 256MB of RAM, it will lag with any video card. Even with 512MB, it still lags. Especially with the expansion pack. It's best to have 1-1.5GB.
