Oh, these aristocrats, they always think friendship can be bought... With Saphirus within the walls of your Academy.
-Ehh, of course. -Moriner agreed, hesitating for a moment. -To be honest, I'm not very good at this, but I'll try to help as much as I can.
Following Light's instructions, Moriner began to help him. The work was not difficult - holding something here, handing over a wrench of the right size, disconnecting something, connecting something, and so on. When this part was finished, the two went to the training ground to test the completed device (Moriner either forgot or was too embarrassed to ask Light if he had received permission for this). Light explained to Moriner how to use the device and told him where to aim, and then stepped back about 100 meters to better assess the effectiveness of his creation.
"I hope these experiments don't tear me apart. And I didn't even ask if he had permission for this. Although, the answer is probably obvious." Moriner thought as he, following Light's instructions, set up the device. After making sure everything was done correctly, he gave him a hand signal, waiting for confirmation to start the testing. Then, carefully aiming at the indicated point, he took a hesitant breath and activated the device.
Moriner activates the device and fires an infected projectile. Unfortunately, due to the weapon's extremely strong recoil, or perhaps just bad luck, Moriner fails to stay on his feet, turns around, and falls on his rear. When the projectile lands and explodes like an "Ifrit" barrage, both guys hear someone screaming from that direction.
-Ouch, shh. - Moriner struggled to get up from the ground, rubbing the bruised spot and feeling the pain radiating in his shoulders and chest. Before thoughts about what a foolish thing he had done completely filled his mind, he heard someone's screams in horror. No, not this. This isn't happening to him, is it? Hopefully, no one got hurt. With fear, he turned his head from Light to the direction where the projectile flew, and rushed to run towards the voice.
Upon reaching the impact site, Moriner and Light discover a student writhing in pain on the ground – it turns out to be Nishikino Kaori. Fortunately, it doesn't seem like the projectile hit her directly, and it's more likely that she was simply thrown and injured by the blast wave.
-Oh, I was already getting worried. -Lait waved his hand indifferently and walked in the opposite direction.
Added 10 minutes later -Oh, no. We need to get a medic here urgently. -Moriner was alarmed. -We can carry her ourselves, but what if her spine is injured or something similar? Don't worry, we'll get help right away. -the last part was addressed to the student herself, but she probably didn't care about it at the moment.
Lait turned as pale as paper and, while Moriner runs to get a medic, decided to stay here.
Physalis, whom Moriner predictably found in the infirmary, looked questioningly at the panting student and asked if anything had happened.
Instead of answering, Moriner nodded vigorously. -There... an explosion... a student was injured... I don't know... we didn't mean to... but we urgently need your help... please!
Xenomia was a little surprised that Eli decided to just take a walk in the forest, she was a bit hesitant to accept the invitation and risk messing things up again, but... she was the one who was invited, right? Miya arrives at the meeting.
Taking a first-aid kit and a stretcher, Physalis followed Moriner and, when they arrived at the scene, found Lyte poking around Kaori with a knife. He began examining the injured Kaori. The first thing he did was to set the dislocated bones, "putting them back in place." With each of these actions, Lyte and Moriner heard a piercing scream accompanied by a loud crunch. Then he placed the girl on the stretcher and told one of the students to help him carry her to the infirmary.
After some time, Kaori was lying on a bed and already asleep. Physalis left the three of them and went to take care of some matters. The silence that had fallen between the two guys was broken by Galmei and Gilbert, who arrived at the infirmary. Galmei rushed to the injured girl, took her hand in his, and began to pray. — Hey! — Gilbert, meanwhile, approached Moriner and grabbed him by the jacket, — what happened?
