Even a film competition is a questionable idea due to the different tastes and skill levels of the participants (but I'm still for it), and for games, it's even more complicated – someone suggested an arthouse game lasting 4 hours, while someone else suggested a grindy, hardcore game lasting 100 hours. Everyone can watch a film, with more or less understanding, but not everyone can play a game.
Sorry if this is just a humorous suggestion...
