Well, as they say, songs won't listen to themselves. And as they also say, only music contests are worse than contests with music videos. DA PUMP / U.S.A. — 5. It's not bad, but I don't really like this kind of music; the rhythm is unpleasant to the ear. SABATON - To Hell And Back (Official Music Video) — 10. A good metal track, although the vocalist's voice isn't great, but I won't lower the score. I need to remember this band. Respect, dude. Sick Puppies - There's No Going Back (Explicit) — 6. It's okay, listenable, but somehow it lacks soul; it's just passing by. Timur Muturaev I'm Tired — 4. I don't really like this kind of song. It's soulful, and all, but it doesn't grab me, and I definitely won't listen to it on a regular basis. Judas Priest - No Surrender (Official Video) — 10. Judas Priest is like wine; it gets better with age. The later their album, the more good stuff it has. Another cool, energizing song for my collection. Jacques Brel - Amsterdam — 4. No, I like retro, but not that much. Two time - meme — 5. A cool tune, but it's unpleasant to the ear again, and overall, it didn't really inspire me. Claudio Capéo - Un homme debout (clip officiel) — 7. Again, it seems cool, but somehow it lacks soul; it doesn't grab me. Although, towards the end, they warmed up and captivated me a little. kantsler_gi_-_OSHUN-SHANGO — 9. I listened to it through a link from a Heroes fan. It reminded me of early "Melnitsa," I like it. Although, the lyrics are a bit weak compared to that. Swordbearer - The Pathway to the End (with lyrics) — 7. Energetic, I liked it. Through the Valley - Shawn James - lyrics — 4. Why is it so melancholic? Celtic Woman - Tír na nÓg ft. Oonagh — 7. Pleasant, but somehow too light. Venom of Venus — 10. Oh, another cool metal track. I need to remember this band too. Respect and kudos to you, dude. Anneke van Giersbergen - Circles — 8. At first, I thought it was just nonsense, but then it warmed up and became pretty good. Although, I didn't really like the vocalist's voice, but I didn't lower the score for that. P.S. Lol, it turns out I already listened to Sabaton. I just didn't actually listen to it.

Anneke van Giersbergen - Circles — 8. At first, I thought it was complete nonsense, but then it warmed up and became quite good. Although I didn't really like the vocalist's voice, I didn't deduct points for it.

I, on the contrary, noted that the vocalist's voice is a solid 10, but everything else... It's kind of depressing. Such a voice could be used in a much better way, but it definitely boosted the overall score.

DA PUMP / U.S.A. — 5. It's cool, upbeat, but overall, I'm not a big fan of this kind of music. SABATON - To Hell And Back (Official Music Video) — 7. I'm not a fan of this band, but it's good. Sick Puppies - There's No Going Back (Explicit) — 4. It's a bit boring. Timur Mutsuraev I'm Tired — 4. In the days when I was into Tsoi and Chizh, I probably would have given this song a higher rating, but not now. Judas Priest - No Surrender (Official Video) — 8. Simple and tasteful. It's a shame that I missed out on this band back in the day (which is strange, considering my love for bands like Maiden). Although, maybe I'll listen to them sometime. Jacques Brel - Amsterdam — 6. Strong voice and the song is good, but there's just too much of that French "rrr". Two time - meme — 5. Again, it's not bad, but I'm not a fan of this kind of music. Claudio Capéo - Un homme debout (clip officiel) — 4. It didn't resonate with me, although the voice is good. kantsler_gi_-_OSHUN-SHANGO — 7. Well, I used to listen to her (Kantsler, not the song) and even went to her concert, but now I feel more neutral about her. Okay, I'll give it a higher rating out of nostalgia; I don't really feel like listening to this kind of music now. Swordbearer - The Pathway to the End (with lyrics) — 6. It's okay. Through the Valley - Shawn James - lyrics — 6. I've been listening to this guy for the past couple of months, and he's good. I wanted to send one of his songs, but a different one. When I saw the title, I was already thinking of giving it an 8, but... Wow, how much more lackluster this performance seems compared to the one I'm used to listening to:



I don't know how many years have passed between the recordings, but the guy clearly hasn't been wasting his time. Take, for example, his signature rattle (that growling sound) - it sounds much more confident in the new version, and he effortlessly incorporates it throughout the song. Oh well, I got carried away.
Celtic Woman - Tír na nÓg ft. Oonagh — 7. Well, damn. For me, as a fan of "true" Celtic music, this is too pop-y (said the person who submitted a nearly pop song, lol). But - pleasant voices and that catchy chorus, and it's even in Gaelic. Perhaps the only thing I wanted to hum after listening to the entire contest (besides the already familiar Wolves), and that's worth a lot.
Venom of Venus — 9. This is cool, no questions. I'm going to their concert in March. But not a 10, because they have even better songs. Anneke van Giersbergen - Circles. I messed up. I should have submitted this version:



Interesting arrangement and it sounds much deeper. But I thought it was 5+ minutes, and in reality, the last 40 seconds of the song are strangely duplicated at the end. Although, I don't think that would have significantly increased the rating. And in any case,

Anneke could sing a bad menu and I'd buy everything on it...

1. DA PUMP / U.S.A. — 4. I might appreciate it more at a different time and in a different mood, but as it is, it didn't resonate with me, unfortunately.
2. SABATON - To Hell And Back (Official Music Video) — 7. Good, upbeat. The guy in the video is really getting into it, it's almost a bit unsettling.
3. Sick Puppies - There's No Going Back (Explicit) — 3. Nah, this isn't for me.
4. Timur Mutsuraev - I'm Tired — 5. So-so, but listenable.
5. Judas Priest - No Surrender (Official Video) — 5. It's a bit too generic, I expected more.
6. Jacques Brel - Amsterdam — 3. Unclear and boring.
7. Two time - meme — 8. Unusual, and the video is interesting. It sounds pleasant.
8. Claudio Capéo - Un homme debout (clip officiel) — 8. Atmospheric, the music is good, and the vocals are on point.
9. Kansler Gi - Oshun Shango — 5. See #4.
10. Swordbearer — The Pathway to the End (with lyrics) — I didn't really put much thought into what to send, because the theme is free and there's no need to pick something specific, so there weren't many options. I noticed this song a long time ago, and I sent it because I liked the performance and the lyrics.
11. Through the Valley - Shawn James - lyrics — 4. Only in the second half did it become somewhat decent, overall it didn't impress me.
12. Celtic Woman - Tír na nÓg ft. Oonagh — 8. Beautiful song.
13. Powerwolf - Venom of Venus — 6. Not bad, but nothing more. It's just not epic enough, is it? :D
14. Anneke van Giersbergen - Circles — 4. See #3, but it's a little better.

"And I won't fear any EVOL!" EVOL, ugh.

What's wrong with "EVOL"? It's often used in blues songs, and not just in blues.

Or at least start sending other types of folk music that actually exist (in case someone didn't know), and not just fantasy/Celtic/medieval/mythological, etc.

By the way, I wanted to send some folk music – not Celtic, not medieval, not Scandinavian, and not even American. But almost all the good songs by that band are 6+ minutes long, and the shorter ones, I considered too specific. Maybe I'll send it to one of the future festivals, if there are any.

This voice could be used in a much better way, but it noticeably improved the overall quality.

I would have sent it, but the quality is disappointing. True Gazering fans believe that Anneke has gone downhill after leaving the band, but I think it's okay, and I listen to both. And I learned about her thanks to Devin Townsend.

I might submit it to one of the upcoming festivals, if they happen.

I'm running out of ideas for names soon.
