Are you talking about technical issues? Well, I don't know, I haven't tried it. Maybe it is, but it seemed to me that the creators of Civ are less clumsy in this regard.
The third game is objectively the best.

Based on my experience with duels in Civilization V, I can say that even perfectly matched players usually finish in about five hours, and if one player is significantly better, it will all be over in an hour or two. Unless the map is a naval one.
