Of course, the team skill that provides +30% charge to the ultimate helps, but still, it works very well with Vera (she restores her resource and doesn’t interrupt her defensive stance). The dancer needs a dagger, but overall is very good; he has many multi-attacks and forces other characters to copy his multi-attacks and ultimate. The swordmaster shines when you have a good sword or katana. For example, Dark Jeanne's katana makes this class deal huge neutral damage, ignoring resistances. The ninja is a flexible class that can paralyze. The worst class is the assassin. It has a useful ability to increase hostility (the chance of being attacked) on a selected ally. But overall, it is only good with its gadgets, and these gadgets require resources for crafting and are simply discarded during battle. Of course, this does not replace all the third-level classes. Classes like dark fencer (the best debuffer) and holy saber (the best defensive class) are indispensable... But still!
