The ideal format is images with a standard width for the forum. You can scroll through the thread without distractions.

Ideals vary from person to person. When it comes to convenience, I, for example, would prefer one large image over approximately 50 "standard" images on a single page.

Well, to each their own. But I find it really inconvenient to scroll through a small piece of background or a cluster of samples that are only three pixels high (the other extreme) and then have to open them separately, and that's only if I'm not feeling lazy. In that time, I'd rather scroll through a dozen moderately sized images.
Although, this is a recurring problem for me; I rarely stay in a museum for very long, I usually just stroll through at a leisurely pace.

You can simply post large images so that they expand to full size when clicked. And without clicking, they don't distort the entire page.

I'm fed up with anime. It's starting to become more of an annoyance than something neutral. Guys, don't overdo it.
