Ideals vary from person to person. If we talk about convenience, I, for example, would prefer one wide image rather than ~50 "standard" ones on one page.

And I, for example, would not prefer either of these options, but would prefer the option from Ple-Sen, or one or two images that are formatted to fit the screen width.
