=Lizard=It's strange to reason in such a key in 2017. I once read a magnificent thought from Kostya Medium. "Balance, strangely enough, is achieved not by cutting out OP elements, but by the maximum number of random factors." In my opinion, HotA is moving in absolutely the right direction. Making such ridiculous mistakes in 2016 Facepalm
Not just by a large number of random factors, but also by carefully giving each of these factors a balanced combination of difficulty to obtain (cost) and influence on the game result (power).
Not just with a large number of random factors, but also by carefully assigning each of these factors a balanced combination of difficulty to obtain (prices) and influence on the game result (strength).
Why in 2016? If you're looking for a reason to facepalm, then look at the original from 2015: "The balance in Heroes is certainly unique; it is achieved not by leveling out individual parameters, but by accumulating randomness – due to the huge number of random factors, they are more or less evenly distributed. That is, in general, reducing the number of random factors will reduce the likelihood of their even distribution among players and worsen the balance. But what has been said above is only true for those factors that do not significantly exceed all others in importance, i.e., for factors that can be countered in one way or another." /topic/at/816113/

If there is no balance in the game at all, then the winner will be random, we all know that in Heroes this is far from the case.
If a game lacks balance, it does not mean that the more experienced player cannot win. Heroes is a game where you cannot win every single match in a row, even if you are stronger than your opponents. A game with this many random factors cannot be perfectly balanced. For a comfortable game, it is enough to remove the imbalanced elements whose arrival completely breaks the game (Diplomacy, Cloak of the Undead King, etc.).
Heroes is a game of distance, and the whole problem is that with such a long match duration, it is very difficult to accumulate enough distance games to practice.

This is a dispute over terms. When playing a coin toss, no amount of experience will help; I call such games random. It depends on what you mean by "balance." If you mean perfect balance, then only a tug-of-war comes to mind, or something like that. In most games, reliably identifying the strongest player requires some degree of distance. Yes, in Heroes this distance is relatively large, but what follows from that? Should we not even try to shorten it, in your opinion? It seems not, we should, since you approve of removing the Cloak of the Undead King and Diplomacy. "For comfortable play"? What does comfort have to do with it? Some people find tossing a coin comfortable and even fun, others play anarchy with the Cloak of the Undead King and such (some, let's not point fingers, even force this nonsense into official tournaments :)), so they were removed precisely for balance, not for comfort. In short, I see clear contradictions in your statements.

Verdict: They shouldn't have invited one Vika as an expert from the Heroes community.
Oh, Kober... if you knew how the work is structured in the Hota-team, you wouldn't have had these complaints... ;)
But to get to the point - the developers are aware of the described problems (and many others), and work is being done on them. Perhaps not as quickly as many would like, but it is being done.
And a checkbox that turns HotA into SoD is nonsense. Why, if SoD already exists. You might as well have a checkbox turning HotA into Erathia, Heroes 1 and Kings & Bounty, and then Heroes 5, 6, 7 for greater coverage, and Halva, GTA and Tetris for variety.
I wouldn't say no to a checkbox that turns HotA into The Succession Wars mod :) Or simply, for everything to be like in HotA, but with graphics in the style of Heroes 2 :)
Let me rephrase a quote, either from Kasparov or Karpov (world chess champions): Heroes 3 is creativity, art, where two players participate in its creation during a game (similar to how an artist paints a picture alone, but in a game (chess) - there are two).
+ An automatic reconnection mechanism has been implemented, which should allow for comfortable gameplay even with poor connection quality. If the connection is generally good, and there are only minor instabilities, players should not even notice the disconnections and reconnections.
- Fixed a bug in the original game that caused infinite map title acquisition and infinite waiting for the opponent after starting a multiplayer game.

The game already worked well with a 3G connection, and now it will be even better :smile02:. Situations like the long data retrieval times and issues with the header, which some players experienced in the online lobby, have not occurred.
Excellent work. Thank you, Baratortch! For those who have internet connection issues (like me), this online lobby is simply amazing. Connecting directly in the game with automatic reconnection without Hamachi or TeamViewer is brilliant! And everything works perfectly; if there are any bugs, they are very minor and insignificant, and we will identify them later.
I believe this version should become the default one. This is a huge step forward for Heroes 3.
