Hello to all HoMM fans! I'm not sure how useful this information will be. But I think true fans of the HoMM series, and especially the first part, will appreciate it. So, a couple of years ago, I wrote a map editor for HoMM1. I wrote it because... well, I don't even know why, I just wanted to test my skills, and as far as I understand, the editor wasn't included with the game... which was very sad... I remember how we and our friends used to mess around, changing the file extensions of maps to play campaign maps in "hot-seat" mode. :D The editor is half-working, half not. It's a bit unfinished. But it can create landscapes, place objects, and save/load maps. There is no way to configure the ownership of cities, heroes, and other things for players, etc. In general, I need to know your opinion. If the program turns out to be useful, and most importantly, the only one of its kind (I'm not sure if I'm the only one who can do this, :p), then I'm ready to work on it more and finish it, so that I can bring someone a little bit of childhood joy! :D Write to me! There is also a map editor for Heroes I on the DVD from the Buka company, "Golden Series of Heroes." I highly recommend this edition to everyone :)

You can run multiple copies and place objects anywhere.

It won't launch for me. It says that the entry point for the procedure _AIL_startup@0 could not be found in the wail32.dll library.

Apparently, something else is needed from the version in which this editor was included.

Could you upload the wail32.dll file? It’s likely that the issue is due to different versions of the file.
