Speed in combat is undoubtedly a very important factor. It determines the turn order in battle. In fact, speed is decisive. (Speed kills. – M. Tyson)
However, this does not automatically make the Swamp and Stronghold factions losers.
You are only looking at the bare facts – speed (of units). You are isolating a part from the whole.
You are ignoring other aspects of the game, such as: the ability to develop quickly and aggressively, the cost of cities (expensive/cheap), the speed of construction, and the overall strength of the heroes.
Of course, casting a spell on the first turn gives a significant advantage, and sometimes you can only win the game if you cast the spell first, but it is not always possible to finish the battle in one round. There are also very difficult final battles, with equal armies, parameters, magic, and the skill of the players. Where you simply cannot win with the first move.
This is where the balance lies. And that's a good thing. The fact that things are not so simple makes the game more interesting.
In general, the information about artillery and ballistics is very useful. But what is stated categorically in the first post (based solely on the speed of units) is not entirely true, but rather a misconception

Lider1, I mostly agree with you here! I just didn't state it so categorically that "unit speed in battle is the most important thing," but rather considered one of the specific aspects of combat. In the game as a whole, of course, various factors influence success or failure. But the fact that I called some castles "weak" (more precisely, "slow") offended those who often play with them. So, especially for them, I'll say: there are no "bad" cities in "Heroes," but each player may have favorite and less favorite cities. And, of course, you can't argue about tastes. :)
