Greetings, esteemed participants of Heroes 3 Online games!

On December 23 of this year, a Contest will open
titled
"Best Chronicle of 2009".

Contest Terms.

1) Any participant who has registered on our portal and fulfilled the Contest Terms may take part in the Contest.

2) Any battle reports from any Internet resources may participate in the Contest, provided they are confirmed by links dated any day from 1.12.2008 to 31.12.2009 inclusive.

3) Each participant has the right to submit no more than 5 reports. In this case, the outcome of the game for that participant—victory, defeat, or draw—does not matter.

4) Reports (or simply links to them) can be sent to e-mail: ms1139@nikopol.net, or via private message, or (if it is only a link) to my ICQ 430405413 (even offline) – the latter option is the most preferred.

5) After sending a report, it is recommended to leave a message about it in this thread (the report itself does not need to be posted; it is sent only by e-mail or private message).

6) The nickname of the participant whose report (or reports) was received automatically enters the participant table for the qualifying round.

7) Deadline for receiving reports: from 23.12.2009 to 15.01.2010 inclusive.

8) The winner will be awarded a prize—an award under the avatar on HeroesWorld.ru; 2nd and 3rd places will receive incentive prizes.

Judging Procedure.

Qualifying Round.
1) No more than one report per participant may advance to the Final. If a participant submitted more than one report, the Judging Committee will select the best of that participant's reports at its own discretion, guided by the Report Selection Criteria.

2) From all reports sent to the specified e-mail, the Judging Committee (consisting of the Contest organizers) will select one third of the reports, based on the number of participants and guided by the Selection Criteria.

Final.
1) Reports selected by the Judging Committee will participate in the final, which consists of a general vote.

2) Every participant registered on HeroesWorld.ru may vote in the corresponding thread. A poll thread with voting options, and, of course, the candidate reports themselves, will be created on 15.01.2010.

3) Each person may vote only 1 time and for only 1 report. Tournament participants, including finalists, are also allowed to vote, including for themselves.

4) The poll will show who was voted for, as well as who voted. The poll will end on 31.01.2010.

Report Selection Criteria:
• practical value (educational quality) of the report (meaning a style of play / report writing from which players can derive new / useful information);
• artistic value of the report (stylistics and the art of writing the report are evaluated; the game moment plays an insignificant role);
• of course, wit and humor.

Note: The Contest organizers reserve the right to make changes to the tournament rules during its progress.

I'll participate! I don't usually write good reports myself... unless I have nothing else to do while playing, then I make a short note after each turn. But to support an excellent organizer and person, I'll sign up for the contest.

But it's not a good idea to force people to submit their reports...
Readers should be able to mark the reports they like and send links to them... Anyway, everyone has had someone else's report stuck in their head and thought to themselves: "Cool!"
But sending a link to your own "excellent" piece of writing... :rolleyes: ...heh...

I suggest changing the rules a bit: make the contest without registration and allow submitting reports about other players. The winner will be the one who WRITES the most interesting report. I think everyone can choose 2-3 memorable reports and send them to Kostyan, and then, as described above, the best ones will be selected from them. It's just that our community is rather modest and people are reluctant to boast about their own reports, but they would easily share reports about others. :)

I don't have any literary talent myself, but I read other people's reports like good detective stories, and some of them stay in my memory for a long time.

Regarding sending links to reports from other players that you liked – feel free to send them, we’ll take a look. But it’s better to send them to me personally, rather than directly to the thread, as it wouldn’t be very fair to the already registered participants (like, they’re all so modest, and then they suddenly think their reports are amazing). I must say that, due to the widespread modesty, I’ve been searching for noteworthy reports myself, starting with the “Winter 2009” season – I think we and the jury* will be able to gather about a dozen good reports. In short, if we don’t get a quorum of 7-10 participants by January 15, 2010, I’ll start posting reports (with the authors’ consent, of course) that we and the jury have found (maybe I’ll even sign up myself for the mass selection:rolleyes: ...). *Initially, it was intended as a committee to select the best report from several submitted by one person, but now, due to the activity:smile54: – it seems it will also simply be for selecting the best reports of the year.

Kostya always provides very vivid and emotional descriptions of the matches, which is why I voted for him.

All the participant reports are good in their own way: some are informative, others are humorous, and still others combine both with visual aids (Andrey-bRitvo4kA and Kostya-Dirty_Player even introduced photo and video reports:)), but I prefer the report that I've been looking for since the contest topic was opened and still am – and I barely found it in the encrypted clan wars topic just 20 minutes before the voting opened:D. This is Artem-SpiriTT's report about the despicable, morally righteous crusader who taught all the neutrals to act morally – a solid five stars!:smile20:
